Student jumps from Sathorn Bridge, refuses to take lifebuoy and drowns

By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- A female vocational school student committed suicide by jumping from Sathorn Bridge into the Chao Phraya early Tuesday morning and then refusing to grab a lifebuoy thrown to her by fishermen, police said.

Lt-Colonel Danchai Tool-ong, an inspector of Pak Klong San Police Station, was alerted to the incident at about 2.45am.

When he arrived at the scene with rescuers and scuba divers of the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, he found a motorcycle parked on the bridge on the Thonburi-bound side.

A bag was found on a sidewalk near a pair of high heel shoes and a garland.

Inside the bag were a wallet and women clothes.

Danchai said a first-year student ID card from a vocational school was also found.

A witness told Danchai that he saw the teenager jump off the bridge.

People fishing on the river bank threw her a lifebuoy but she refused to grab it and disappeared under the water.

Danchai said the scuba divers had to wait until morning before they could search for the body.

Teenage girl appears at police station after reports she committed suicide

By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- A vocational school student thought to have drowned after jumping off Sathorn Bridge early Tuesday morning turned up at a police station.

The 17-year-old girl told police she had no intention of committing suicide and that she fell into the Chao Phraya River because she was drunk.

It was reported that she jumped from Sathorn Bridge at about 2.45am after leaving her bag, her high-heel shoes and a flower garland on the sidewalk.

A witness told police he saw her refusing to take a lifebuoy throw to her by people fishing on the river bank under the bridge.

The girl told police she was about to drown but a barge passed and its crew pulled her out of the water.

She said she disembarked the barge at Samut Prakan’s Phra Pradaeng district.

She said she did not quarrel with her boyfriend, as speculated in the media, because she has no boyfriend and she has no problems in life.

“I was just drunk,” she told police.

Before the girl went to the police station to collect her belongings, police had planned to summon her relatives on Tuesday afternoon to find why she committed suicide.

Before leaving the police station, the girl smiled to cameras and flashed a victory sign.

And another thread suggest students should follow a vocation to which they are best suited.  In this case perhaps high diving is a potential winner for her.

Joking aside was she wearing a white T shirt with no bra when they fished her out ?

Maybe she played that suicide game , Blue Whale , it's popular right now among teens .

After 50 days they are told to jump from a bridge or roof .

The final challenge requiring the player to commit suicide.  It's been reported that more than 50 teenagers did commit suicide after playing the game since 2013. I know, its a crazy world.
