Hi all,

Here’s my second review for ‘Food Review by Dining Guru’. Once again, I’d love to share my fine dining experience to make your appetites whetted. Hope it works.

Last time you guys shared comments about the price versus buffet items. I really appreciate those feedbacks. This time, I come back with, again, a hotel buffet restaurant which I personally think the price is not to bad. Feel free to share your comment. :)

At Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok (just behind Siam Paragon), they present a new concept of their international buffet service for dinner (6:30 – 10:30 PM every day!) called ‘Earth and Sea’. Prices are B1,800++ per person and B900++ for children (I’m not sure about condition. You’d better check), including mineral water, coffee and tea.

Now let me walk you around…

Starting from my favourite seafood on ice, served with a variety of condiments, I tried the Fin de Claire Oyster, New Zealand mussels, snow crab, tiger prawns and white prawns, presented in wood buckets. Next to this ice town, there’s a Japanese section providing fresh sashimi and sushi like salmon, tuna, octopus and shrimp.

Coming to a highlight of this buffet, you can order one of the a la carte menu of the day (included in the price). I chose the seared Tuna served with tomatoes, capers, and salsa verde. Tuna was very firm. While my friend went for the tender and juicy Beef Tenderloin with green pepper polenta and red wine jus. These a la carte dishes also come with one pasta dish.

These were choices for Monday. But for other days, there are, to name a few, Lamb cutlet, Wagyu Beef, Lobster and Foie Gras. You can check the menu of the day first, so you can easily pick the day based on your preferences.

As people would usually expect, a salad bar comes with a full set of healthy delicacies from quality green vegetables, colourful carrots and tomatoes to cheeses and dressings. It also comes with some protein treats like smoked duck and beef pastrami to choose from. The quality cheeses sit next to baked bread and an array of cold cuts. But what interested me the most was a composed salad of smoked duck which was deliciously wonderful.

Step further inside and you will be greeted by a daily selection of cooked dishes and soups like Pork Tenderloin Steak, Teriyaki Salmon, Chicken Scaloppine, Pumpkin soup and Spicy Tom Yum soup. Also, chefs are always there to serve you BBQ Roasted Pork Ribs with sauces and potatoes.

Finally, I came across the sweet section! I would say these seductive bites were coming like a parade. There were, to name a few, again, cherry profiteroles, pistachio baklava, chocolate lollipop, vanilla panna cotta with a variety of dressing, even macaron, cookies, Thai desserts, ice cream and much more. Chocolate fountain is also right there for your favourite marshmallows and fruits.

This place offers a full range of tempting choices which is impossible to try them all at once. So, I will come back for sure!

Oh! almost forgot, this dinner buffet is in the restaurant called ‘Brasserie Europa’. You can ask easily anyone how to get there. They provide both indoor and outdoor (beside the hotel’s swimming pool). It would be nice to sit outside in winter, if Thailand has one!

This restaurant is quite big, so I think you can easily walk in. But if you want to make a reservation, call 02-162-9000 or contact https://www.facebook.com/SiamKempinskiHotelBangkok/

I have always thought the Kempinski chain had the best buffets ever. I spent too much time in India and the Leela Kempinski in Mumbai was just the best. I am not surprised that another location also has amazing food.

Pictures of the a la carte dishes would be good even if they are above its hard to see which they are.

On the fountain and its fruits please specify if they have strawberries as that is the holy grail of chocolate fountains in any buffet experience dessert.

Oh! There was no strawberries when I was there. There were quite general kind but hope they'll add strawberry in winter - to complete as seasonal fruits line. Haha

I got some more pictures from www.thegreatgastro.com for the a la carte here ; )
