I did say sorry.  :sorry::wai:

No worries mate! Not your fault two conflicting articles that said different things were set as the original article, with no correction notice added to it.

They could/should have added the correction notice to the bottom of the article...and still should.

Thankfully no-one tried to do a runner & mow  a policeman down in the street, they'd have to drop the charges !!

Thankfully none of the old women had a shotgun. They'd have had to back off and call in "braver" police.

Does anybody remember that article from a year or two ago? Some clown had a shotgun in the woods. The cops backed off, and called in "braver" cops.

Playing a friendly card game with money is illegal and people will be charged.  However, it is ok for motorists to break the law with their crap driving abilities and the biggest of them all...... collection of tea money.  Think they could use their time more appropriately.

So if there had been evidence that they had been drinking they would have been arrested ? On what charge ? Did drinking in a private home suddenly become illegal ? Imagine the chaos !

Must have been an edit done.  The post now days drinking but not gambling.

Yes. The article was edited after it was ridiculed twice on the first page of this thread.

The foreigners have corrupted the women obviously.

No, but they're the ones providing the funds.

Farang funds taste twice as sweet to the Thai authorities.

"But Holmes, how can you say they were drinking when there was no evidence of them drinking?"

"Note the man in the blue shirt yonder who is holding a glass. Doesn't look a bit concerned does he? He is none other than the infamous undercover agent, Moree Ahtiparp. He won't be drinking on duty and his lips don't touch the glass, so there is evidence of him drinking."

"Oh I see!"

"Just like those involved in the raid, Elementary my dear Watson (tit)"

That's why they called the game Dummy. It was named after the husbands.

If it's 35 years for picking mushrooms, where do these compulsive gamblers feature in the scale?

If people aren't allowed to gamble, why is the lottery allowed to operate?  Oh yes, of course, the money goes into the right pockets!

Great points.

I recall 30 years ago when the lottery was legalized in Florida.

ALL the money was to go to the schools. It didn't. They have ships in Florida port that go out beyond a 3 mile limit to permit casinos to operate.

Try to ban something, and....it still happens.

Makes the busy-bodies of the world feel good about themselves though I guess?

A very simple question. Is playing a game of Bridge with some friend, WITHOUT involving ANY money or equivalent, illegal Thailand? If so how come that such clubs are advertised in news media for expatriates?

You must've missed the "bridge players getting busted" thread last year.

can I play "Snap"

5 card draw. Deuces wild is my game.

Nickel ante. Max bet 50 cents.

Used to play Blackjack on the school bus with a friend when I was 9 or 10...we had an hour's ride.

I got pretty good at it, though we never gambled.

I think it has been established that playing bridge without money or prizes is not illegal. However (IIRC), in the famous Pattaya Bridge Club raid there was alcohol being served in the afternoon and more than the permitted number of playing cards were found on the premises.

The cops will confiscate the 6,500 baht and clip all the "rich" women with farang husbands for 2,000 baht each.
