Security officer crushed to death by sliding gate at Bangkok condo

By The Nation

BANGKOK: -- A security officer was killed when he was crushed by a broken sliding gate that fell on him at a Bangkok condominium early on Thursday, police said.

Suradej Sotethisansern, 57, died at the scene at 2am. His skull was crushed and and his ribs were broken at the M Phayathai Condominium.

The condominium’s CCTV footage showed that when Suradej was pulling the two-layer gate to close, the outer layer appeared to tilt outside. He went outside to try to push it back in place, but the entire gate fell and crushed him.

R.I.P. poor guy. I hope your family will get an adequate compensation and nobody will blame this on brake failure.

Don't wait for the adequate part, I guess.

Poor design at fault again.  The gate in my house falls off the rails if you close too fast, there is nothing to support it once past the mid point of closing.

They will probably be sued for defamation and to replace the gate he vandalised.

That's why we made steel swinging gates!
