Nerve Block

Featured Replies

Everyone,

I am writing this for a friend in Phnom Penh.  He needs a Nerve Block for his back.

What Doctor is recommended?

Can this be done in a Thai public Hospital?  If so what would the approx. cost be.

Can you give a recommendation Public Hospital and Doctor for both Bangkok and Pattaya ?

Thanks for your help.

This requires an anesthesiologist specializing in pain management, and these are few and far between in Thailand. Even rarer are ones who do nerve blocks.

Although a few government  hospitals (very few) have pain clinics accessing this would be very time consuming and require many repeat trips before  he'd actually meet a specialist and time with the doctor would be very limited. It needs a Thai speaker to help one navigate the red tape etc as well. For someone coming from any other country I don't think this is very practical.

Suggest Assoc. Prof. Supranee Niruthisard at BNH hospital spine center if he wants to be sure of seeing someone who can do a nerve block

She can also be seen at the Chulalongkhorn Hospital Pain Clinic but note caveats above. Might also be possible to see her at the Chula after hours clinic, that's better than the public channel but still not so convenient for someone who doesn't live in Bangkok.

If your friend's need for a nerve block is self diagnosed he would do well to first see Dr. Wicharn or one of the other ortho surgeons in the bnh spine center for a thorough evaluation.
