Car Hire on Samui

Featured Replies

Hi, I've just invested in a holiday home in the Mae Nam area and am looking for a reputable car hire place to use regularly as I intend to spend a fair amount of time there. Does anyone have any recommendations? I know there are the obvious places such as Budget, Sixt and National but wanted to know if they were the best option on the island?

Pretty sure there are smaller, mom & pop outfits that a local can recommend but I preferred dealing with a national brand that had served me well in Bangkok and other provinces so I used Thai rent-a-car when I was there.

Great - thank you, I'll try them.

I used to use "Petch" in Maenam before I bought my own car, I also stayed there. I could have a fair rate based on weekly or monthly rental, and I could have the car delivered in Airport, when I arrived. It's a smaller company owned by Ms Petch, but gave me very good service. Don't know if she's still in busines (presume so), but she used to have an office here (Google Street View) – and her phone was 08 9723 9998.

Otherwise there are other small car rentals in Maenam area, which probably can give you a good local service, but compare with major companies, and make sure full insurance is included in the price.

I'll check if Petch is still there, next I pass by, and post info here...

Re above, I walked by this evening just as Ms. Petch arrived and asked me »Bei nei..?« (where are you going) – »To check if you still have this same office...« – »Same office,« she replied, »And also same phone number...«

Thanks - you've been a great help. I'll give her a call.
