BANGKOK: -- Police were on duty outside Rajamangala University of Technology’s Uthen Thawai campus in downtown Bangkok on Tuesday to ensure no student brawls erupted as the new semester began.

The same scene was repeated at Pathumwan Institute of Technology.

Students at the two schools consider each other rivals and have attacked each other in the past.

Tuesday’s police presence stemmed from a fight between the students earlier this month, on a pedestrian bridge at the National Stadium Skytrain station, that left one dead and another seriously injured.

The officers were assigned to stand watch at the RUT front gate both in the morning and in the afternoon when classes ended, as well as patrol nearby.

Students at both schools were told to wear their regular clothing when coming and going and only wear their school uniforms while inside.

It was feared that wearing uniforms outside the schools could provoke another assault.

Students at the two schools are rivals but at what? Certainly not in intelligence as it is obvious from the past they are all as thick as two short planks or tgey wouldn't act in the way they do
