Thonburi police are hunting the driver of a Nissan March that left a helpless old man for dead after ploughing into him during the night.

Eighty eight year old Taeng Rerngsamran is still in hospital after the incident at 2am on the 6th of August.

He had wandered out of his home and was looking for his wife who died a year ago. He appeared to be walking at the side of the road.

Relatives said he suffers from the dementia disease Alzheimer's.

The driver fled the scene but police are hampered by lacking the details of the license plate. The CCTV was not clear enough.

They are studying CCTV from other shops and businesses in the area to try to get a better view.

Leusak Damnoensawat said his officers were doing all they could after the clip of the accident was shared on Facebook.

I have no time for hit-and-run drivers! Maximum sentence allowed in that country... if it's life, then it should be life...if it's death, well, they deserved it
