True Fiber Question

Featured Replies

How's everyone feeling with True Fiber? Should I go with 3BB or AIS?

For the moment I am not happy with my AIS powerpro stability. But we'll see in the next few days.

I have had True fiber for 18 month now after 5 years with 3BB adsl. I am satisfied with True, little buffering in high traffic jam in the weekend. Using VPN to Europe and the speed is ok for IPTV.

I wouldn't give True a single baht. Awful company, even by Thailand's bottom scraping standards.

Keep in mind what True calls it's SuperSpeedFiber plans can be either an actual fiber optics or DOCSIS (cable)...depends on the area you live in.  And by "cable" I don't mean phone/DSL line cable; I mean Radio Frequency (RF) cable like TV cable.    Since DOCSIS cable does hook into a fiber optics trunk line somewhere upstream (could be kilometers away), True is technically not lying that you have a fiber optics connection (but only part of the way to your residence).

So if signing up with True and you absolutely want a fiber optics line all the way to your residence you will need to confirm with them whether it's true fiber optics or DOCSIS (cable).  It will just depend on your area/building....the wiring infrastructure in place.   Nothing wrong with DOCSIS cable as it can provide speeds up to the 1000 to 2000Mb speeds....I was on a True DOCSIS plan for around 5 years...rock solid reliability-wise...uptime north of 99.9%...but True's "international" speeds could have been better.

I switched from True to AIS Fibre around 14 months ago....it's fiber optics every inch of the way to my house....rock solid reliability...uptime north of 99.9%...and significantly better international speeds than True.

When deciding on an ISP if you have multiple choices (you may or may not depending on where you live) you also should look at other features/services/benefits offered by the ISP....such as IPTV, mobile SIM cards, Wifi, etc.   The ISPs are always  coming out with new promotions, both combo promotions (i.e., multiple services such as internet, IPTV, mobile, etc., in one packages) and single service promotions (i.e., internet only).

Your results may vary....a lot depends on your location.

I use the basic 50/20 True Fiber @799 baht a month (+GST) + @299 baht True Visions for EPL, La Liga, Serie A etc. in HD.

I'm happy with it. AIS were in my area today with their latest offering. 200/50 or whatever sounds nice but I see no reason to change.

Maybe if I was an online gamer I would consider upgrading to something faster but for my needs True is fine.
