One Thai, two Myanmar men arrested over motorcycle thefts

By The Nation

Metropolitan Police have arrested a Thai man and two Myanmar men for allegedly being members of a gang that stole motorcycles to sell in Myanmar.

Pol Maj-General Nanthachart Supamongkol, commander of Metropolitan Police Division 4, and Pol Col Supol Khamchu, commander of Chokchai police station, held a press conference on Saturday to announce the arrests.

They said Pichet Daengthoen, 22, a Tak resident, and two Myanmar men, Miew Ming Toon and Chalip, were arrested at a house on Soi Nakniwet 48 in Lat Phrao district on Friday.

Police seized eight Honda Click 125i and one Honda Scoopy I as well as a Toyota Hiluck Revo pickup truck from the suspects.

Nannthachart said the three were implicated by four other suspected members of the motorcycle theft gang, who were arrested by officers from Lat Phrao police station on August 18.

The three who were most recently arrested admitted that their job was to keep the stolen motorcycles and then take them to Myanmar via Tak’s Mae Sot district. They would transport the stolen bikes by a pickup truck.
