I've been an AIS customer for a couple years. In the beginning I got some advertisement from AIS via SMS and used the callcenter to turn this off. It worked and I didn't get any SMS spam for a few years. In the past couple months though they suddenly started spamming me again. I tried several times to use their service hotline to turn it off again, each time being told it would be turned off within 24h. After that clearly failed, I went to the AIS shop in Central Phuket to speak to a service staff member, they checked some stuff on their computer, called the same service line like I did and after a while told me it's certainly off now. Well, I guess they did indeed turned off SMS advertisements because now I am getting "Class 0" message ad spam from them! To anyone who doesn't know what a Class 0 message is: it's also known as a Flash SMS, a message from the network operator that will pop up on your phone on top of whatever you have currently open. It just shows up on your screen and way more annoying than a SMS. This message type was intended for network operators for emergency messages or privacy requiring messages like one-time passwords (they don't get saved to disk). There is no sender number so I don't think you could block that. Unbelievably crappy service from AIS. Do other forum members experience the same shenanigans?

Do you have an iPhone? Or Android?

Most spam complaints are third-party services (lucky lottery, horoscope, cat videos, football scores, etc.). I see a few flash SMS issues on pantip but only one or two.

Are you getting more flash SMSes since the visit to the AIS shop in Central Phuket? Can you determine who is sending them? Approximately how many are you receiving?

It seems like AIS, in their most recent attempt to solve your original problem inadvertently ticked a wrong box in your provisioning. They should be able to sort it out.

Some operators install a SIM Toolkit app, not sure if AIS does, which may allow one to toggle Class 0 SMS on/off.

You could try the *137 option? Maybe their mobile app, or web-based management tool? Or drop them an email.

I'm an AIS customer for over ten years and have never got any ads, sms or flash.I'm post pay. Maybe pre pay is different.

I have never downloaded any of the AIS apps that they are offering on different sites though.

I get at least one or two texts a day from AIS. What I do is to set the ringtone for texts to a one ding tone that I can't hear unless I'm next to my phone. Then I delete them later when I feel like it, along with the other texts from people who are too cheap to call and expect me to call them back.

mtls2005: I'm using Android but that shouldn't matter. The Flash SMS are coming directly from AIS and are advertising AIS services like "AIS Play", prompting me to sign up via one of the USSD codes.

Yes I am getting more Flash SMS messages since visiting the AIS shop so I suspect they messed something up there.

The "AIS Services" app that is on the simcard is pretty useless apart from checking the balance and signing up for some package.

I've tried now *137 again, they have only Thai as a language and tons of different options for different kinds of SMS. Tried turning them all off once more. Will see.

Naroge: I've also never installed any of these crap apps nor have I signed up for anything. I'm on prepaid though, guess that means second class customer :)

I've had this problem in the past and called 1175 (12Call Helpline).

There is an option to speak to a Thai or English-speaking operator.

They stopped the spam, and by the way, have been very helpful in sorting out other issues I have had.

After many terrible experiences with AIS, I finally gave up and switched to DTAC. This was about 5 years ago and I've never had a problem since. Hope it works for you too.

One idea might be to call them. Just taking a wild guess here.

Ok! Thanks for letting me know. The reason why I wrote it, is that I find it very peculiar of the OP.
Why ask on a forum instead of taking the problem with the company it regards? Hillarious!

I use AIS pay as you go, have done for over a decade. Don't get any spam from them. Went to their office  some years ago to get rid of them,  also looking on the website where to check or uncheck boxes. I would consider transferring the number to another network supplier, although I hear True spam a bit too.

Same problem.

Been a customer of AIS for 10 or 15 years. They started sending spam SMS maybe 5 years ago.  Extremely annoying, especially if I use my Thai phone abroad in a different time zone.

I complained to their call center about 50 times.  It helps, spam gets less. But they never stopped completely.

DTAC has never done this (I have been DTAC customer too). But nowadays, DTAC hardly has any coverage upcountry (for voice calls) any more so I still need AIS.

Does True send spam SMS?

Yes - have my combo package SIM in desk drawer because of it.  Have no idea if you can opt out but have DTAC as primary and don't need the aggravation (just paying True their separate bills for everyting.is enough stress).  Especially when mail does not arrive and web site Epay uses a non standard font for bills which there download fails to deliver.
