Power cables on Phahonyothin road will be moved underground by Sept

BANGKOK, 30 August 2017 (NNT) - A project to move power and utility cables underground on Phahonyothin road in Bangkok has progressed by more than 50%. It is expected to be completed in September this year.

Bangkok Governor Pol. Gen. Atsawin Kwanmuang on Tuesday followed up on the progress of the underground cable project on Phahonyothin road from the Sam Sen Canal to Lat Phrao junction. Started on 1st August, the project covers both sides of the road for 16 kilometers.

When all of the cables are moved underground, the Metropolitan Electricity Authority (MEA) will remove 600 concrete power poles on the two sides of the road and install 326 LED lamps instead. The removal of the power poles and the LED lamp installation will also be completed in September 2017.

Meanwhile, the MEA is moving power and utility cables underground on Rama III road with a plan to move more of them underground on Sukhumvit road. The power poles once removed will be given to the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration for the construction of breakwaters in Bang Khun Thian.

I was walking near Saphan Khwai  yesterday and there were a lot of guys there removing cables. The whole place as well as looking better also seems brighter.

5 or 6 years ago they build a new road here in Lampang, all cables underground for the buildings that already were there, till they start to build new houses and yes there came the poles and cables again. If they don't know how to connect the new buildings then they will do it the only way they know.
