Ace striker Teerasil Dangda has been picked by Serbian coach Milovan Rajevac to captain the Thai national football team which will take on Iraq in a FIFA World Cup 2018 qualifying match at the Rajamangala Sport Stadium on Thursday (Aug 31) at 7pm.

Speaking at a pre-match conference at the Football Association of Thailand head office, Rajevac said the match on Thursday is very important as it will be the Thai team’s last home game.

He said he would like the Thai fans to cheer the Thai players as their goal is to clinch victory.

With Teerasil and playmaker Chanathip Songkrasin back in the team, the Thai offensive is certain to improve, he said.  However, the game will be without goalkeeper Kawin Thamsajjanon and Thanaboon Kesarat who are still suffering from injuries.
