Not really. One can have all the money and bank accounts their want. They can have multiple properties, a couple of cars etc etc, just don't stay inside Thailand for more than 179 days a calendar year. Find a second home in a neighboring country for the other 6 months of the year. -

Although I don't live there now (I'm in Japan), I'm not new to Thailand. I lived there for a year back in 1993 and never heard much about guns. I didn't know it has proliferated so much since then to the point that kids can get them over the internet. Thanks for the info. -

I've filed taxes here without a problem for almost a decade. I've declared current year income and I've informed the TRD about exempt income and I've paid tax some years. I've not had a problem. So you ask me if I'm willing to be the first.....I did that years ago. Personally, I think you're scaremongering. -

Lao borders (some at least) now requiring overnight stay?
Myanmar should keep its borders closed to self-entitled farang who are only there to abuse Thailand's rules. Since the 3 Pagodas Pass border has been closed to farang for the past 17 years, chances are Mae Sai and Mae Sot could be the same... Of course, people like you will still be moaning about Mae Sai being closed in 17 years from now... I don't get it....what are all these people on visa-free stays doing in Thailand all day long? What is it that prevents them from spending even a night or two in a neighboring country? Must be related to heavy drinking and girls as I can't see any other legit reason. Legitimate tourists don't have that much time. Those who are working online will have a DTV or LTR visa if they're wealthy. Those who are not working online but working in Thailand will have a non O married to a Thai or non B plus work permit or smart visa or some other long term visa. Retirees will have a retirement visa. -

Yes, terrible case of dual pricing. The Thais spend more than that now on average for traveling and accommodation to travel to the border casinos. Thousands of them every day. They can lose their money in Thailand now instead, and the border casinos will mostly go broke without Somchai and Noi playing Baccarat. Smart move by the government. Kyrgyz Boxer Faces Sexual Assault Charges
Picture courtesy: Khaosod PHUKET — A Kyrgyz boxer visiting Phuket for training has been arrested after being accused of sexually assaulting a spa employee in the Mueang Phuket District. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local and expat communities nestled in this popular tourist destination. On August 24, Chalong Police Station officers apprehended Mr Sultan, 28, a seasoned boxer hailing from Kyrgyzstan. The arrest follows a grave accusation made by 19-year-old Miss A, an employee at a spa located in Moo 3, Chalong Sub-district. According to Miss A's police report, the alleged assault occurred on August 18 when Sultan visited the spa to use the ice bath service. Miss A detailed that Sultan initially acted like a regular customer, making use of the facilities she had prepared. However, events took a distressing turn later in the afternoon. Sultan allegedly followed Miss A into a room where she went to turn off gas equipment and began sexually harassing her. Despite his efforts, the assault did not escalate to completion as Sultan reportedly suffered from back pain, rendering him unable to continue. Before leaving, he used a translation app to tell Miss A, “Can’t continue due to back pain, and will come back the next day,” followed by an ominous “Don’t tell anyone.” Miss A immediately reported the incident to the police. Forensic officers quickly gathered evidence from the crime scene, summoning Sultan for questioning. The boxer wasn't quiet on social media, curiously posting pictures of himself training as usual, seemingly unfazed by the allegations against him, reported Khaosod. According to Section 276 of the Thai Criminal Code, anyone found guilty of committing sexual intercourse through coercion or exploiting an individual’s inability to resist can face between four to twenty years in prison and a fine ranging from eighty thousand to four hundred thousand Baht. As the Phuket police continue their investigation, the case spotlights critical issues surrounding safety and the conduct of visitors in the tourist-driven island. The whole discussion is about the ifs and buts. We all don't know what will happen after the 1st January 2025. No harm in discussing all possibilities. It's the Thai way to make a scapegoat of the first person that goes against the system. Do you have the moral and ethical fortitude, and the financial means, to take the TRD on in a Thai Court, whilst hoping for a fair hearing, with the eyes of the world watching, or will you just shut up, pay what they say you should pay, and go along like a good farang? Who's willing to risk it all and be the test case for all farang going forward? Are you up for it, CM? No, I didn't think so. -

How on earth do you Diet in Thailand ?
They can debunk all they want, as opinions of dieting are too much to count. Things work for 50 years because they work, and thousands of people I've trained and given diet advice to have lost weight, and stayed lean, because of it. Of course the Keto diet works, especially if you have a lot of fat to lose, because you're starving the body of carbs. There are side effects of staying on it too long, such as constipation, ostopenia, high cholesterol, kidney stones and fatigue. It does work for the stated reason but some people like the taste of carbs, as many popular food is high in carbs. If you aren't too far away from your preferred weight, meaning body fat percentage, eating carbs in small amounts isn't bad. It's not easy for some to stay on any particular diet if all of their lives they;ve eaten a certain way, so radical changes are best kept to those who really need to lose a lot of fat for health reasons. I've watched women all of my life skip breakfast, and they are the ones who have a hard time losing weight. You go so long without eating and you tend to overeat later in the day, when your body doesn't need so many calories like it does in the morning. -

This stems from too many people being obsessed with money and power, combined with a total lack of empathy. If you introduced a more caring, gun free, secular and socialist society, life would be so much better. Now there's something to get your teeth into.
