  1. I think it's interesting that they, and it seems many others, never asked for the prices up front. Why not? Is it somehow part of Thainess that you don't ask? If you ask up front, then there should be no surprises. It's not really that difficult to understand this simple concept.
  2. And then there are about 70,000,000 Americans who still think that is the president they want again. Amazing! And utterly unbelievable for almost anybody else around the world.
  3. It seems many people see this as a black and white issue. Allow it without any regulations or ban it completely. Does that make sense? Lot of professionals who work with drug addicts for years think it is a good idea to legalize drugs. Because illegal drugs are dirty and make people sick. And because they are illegal, they are expensive and lots of crime exists in the drug trade and crimes that people commit to get money for drugs. It should be in all out interest to make this situation better. Help people who need help. But don't inspire new people to take drugs or take more drugs. There is a middle path, and we must find it to improve the situation.
  4. Obviously the question is: Why did you ever give any money to the guy who is f$#$# your wife? Do you feel obliged to pay him for something you can't do or don't do for whatever reasons?
  5. Let's not forget that those Tiktokers and YouTubers do that to make money. And they wouldn't make money if nobody would watch it. So it seems there are enough people out there who watch that crap.
  6. Good I wonder how many go to jail. I heard stories about our ex building managers and I would have thought they should be in jail. But no, for them life seems to go on like normal.
  7. I am thinking about setting up my own small company. I have some knowledge from talking to owners from small companies and recently I talked to a law firm, and I received an email from another law firm with some prices. I wonder if there is a comprehensive step by step guide here or maybe in a book, etc. I.e. when I talked to the first lawyer he said if I, as a foreigner, want to work in my company with Non-B visa and work permit, then the company needs to register for VAT. The 2nd law firm didn't mention VAT, at least until now. The lawyer also told me it is easy to register a company without VAT in some residential buildings, but the same can't be done for VAT registered companies. We also talked about that it is easier to first register a company Thai only, and then transfer some shares to a foreigner. It seems to apply for visa and work permit for the foreigner the first social security payments for the Thai employees have to be completed. There are obviously many steps. What I like to see is a comprehensive list of all the things which have to be done and some estimate time frame. The reason is mostly that I don't want that one company tells me we do x,y,z and this cost amount X. And then later they tell me we also have to do A,B,C which cost additionally amount Y. Does anybody of you have an up do date list about all these little things? Thanks.

  8. Be aware that there are different qualities available...
  9. Spending any money on yoga is obviously wasted. But 5k per month in restaurants sounds good - if you can afford it.
  10. Just in case that nobody mentioned it until now. If you want to have a business visa and work permit based on your Thai company, then you have to follow lots of rules. If you can legally stay with other options (marriage, retirement) then maybe just open a Thai company, maybe be shareholder, but don't work for the company. That is a lot easier and cheaper.
  11. If it looks nice, and/or the view is nice, then I would start with some good pictures. I think it's always amazing when people try to sell their units in high floors and on all the pictures the curtains are closed. And about "agents": Be aware that everybody wants the full commission. The hairdresser in the building, the building manager, everybody!
  12. It's not really the Blue Lagoon without Brooke Shields. ????
  13. If people want to put their own free-standing house on Air BnB then they should do it. If people offer their condominium unit, which is obviously in a condominium building, then I think they should be punished, maybe the door locked, something like that. I live in a condominium, and I expect neighbors who live here long term. I don't want to feel like I am in a hotel. And if I travel, then I obviously go to a hotel, with all the hotel facilities and services. That's the whole idea. Hotels are for (relative) short time visitors. The problem in Thailand is, as usual, that nobody enforces the laws.
  14. I just deleted my previous post. That was about the boy. Forget about it. Personally I stopped reading stickman many years ago because he posted wrong or sponsored information. Some people pointed out that he wrote things like G-Spot and Rainbow and BlaBla are great bars. Everybody knew that about G-Spot and Rainbow but nobody heard about BlaBla before. Guess why he mentioned that...
  15. Where did I mention to kiss his <deleted>? That is your interpretation of me saying: be careful.
  16. And are you sure about your prediction and that you understand Putin and the people who follow his orders? Is it good enough for you that likely he won't do that, or they won't follow orders?
  17. A little advice for people who don't use the ISP provided equipment: keep the original devices, and if necessary, keep them for a decade or as long as it takes. Some time ago I moved out of a rented apartment. I went to the TRUE shop and tried to cancel my subscription. They told me I have to return the equipment. I told them I am not sure if I can find these old devices, maybe 10 years old. And then TRUE told me then they would charge for those devices a ridiculous price like 10,000B or something similar. I looked again and I brought them to TRUE. I am sure they will go on a heap of trash; nobody uses them anymore in new installations.
  18. I didn't really expect that anybody would do what I "suggested". And about paying that fine: I had lots of officers stop me on my bike and then they start to fill out a form. And then they show their good heart and told me I can also pay cash to them directly. ????
  19. Who are those "Ruzzians" which you have in mind? Do you imagine they have a democratic vote if and how they should use nuclear weapons? Or is it more like Putin says: Let's do it! And if Putin goes down, will he care if he goes alone or together with Russia or the world? If he is dead, then he is dead. He doesn't have to worry about a nuclear catastrophe anymore.
  20. You should have asked him if a police officer who lies to get money will be disciplined? Maybe just show him a random picture of another police officer so that he understands the idea.
  21. Or a 2TB external HDD for half the price. For most scenarios, like backups, the external "drive" doesn't have to be fast.
  22. Junk slows down. But with a fast SSD you might not notice it so much.
  23. It shouldn't take that long. But, it is possible that the old HDD is damaged. And if that is the case, then it might take forever. And the old HDD might stop working completely soon. So if you have the time then I suggest let the shop wait and wait. And if it still isn't done after a week then you can still tell them to stop. And about problems like that: You might copy 0% to 66.3% in an hour, and then maybe it tales 5 hours to copy 0.1%, and then maybe the speed is normal again. With errors on a disk (let presume that is the case here) you can't predict how long it will take. And if you stop with that process, then I recommend that you copy your important data ASAP to another disk of USB stick. High priority first. If it fails completely, then you saved as much of the important data as you could. Good luck - you need it.
