  1. Ahh, got it. Sorry, I didn't realise this was the first day. Silly me - I thought this started a while ago. As it's the first day, I'll wait a few days......weeks...... months.... ye- ahh - forget it!
  2. They all do like to look important, intelligent, forward thinking and proactive, don't you think?
  3. If this young lady cannot control her emotions while teaching a 7 year old child, then she should not be given the authority or task to teach her. a little bit of imagination can do wonders. The child is having problems as basic as adding 8+4 =12, right? 12 pencils/apples/tomatoes/12 anything. sort into two piles - 8 & 4 Using fingers, or even just adding one object to the 8 already in one group and asking the child how many there are now, is a simple method that the child can relate to, providing she has knowledge of basic numbers. My wife used a similar method of teaching our 14 year old daughter many years ago. It worked. Our daughter will never be in the 'math' class, but she knows how to simple stuff like that and can cope now with the more complex math stuff. Thai people in general cannot do mental arithmetic. I have seen this countless times over the last 16 years. Patience is very rewarding - get rid of the temper-prone niece! do it yourself if necessary.
  4. So, if the 'capacity' exceeds expectations and the tests can be conducted at the hotels - why in the name of heaven, can't everyone avoid unnecessary waiting at the airport and get tested at the hotel as well? What does it matter? It's just bureaucracy for bureaucracy's sake!
  5. Really? Just how many Sois do you think there are, thousands? In less than a square Kilometers of where I live the are hundreds of Sois, small, medium and large, interconnecting, adjoining - leading to others. I don't think 'millions' across the whole of Thailand is an unreasonable guesstimate. Certainly millions of the filthy, vicious little s**t mongrels that live in them. I mean the dogs of course.......
  6. But - but - but...... you said, quote, "I've only transited through. Slept near bus station once, plane to BKK once. 30 years in E Asia. So, how do you know the above information? Full of holes, untruths and stupidity appears to be the name of the game....
  7. Wake up 4:30am. Shower, shave, sh*t, shampoo - get dressed. Get the kettle going. Drink warm-to-hot water with lemon/lime. 2 eggs boiled for 8 minutes. Meanwhile, Three TBS of muesli cereal with a little milk. Maybe a banana. Mug of coffee, milk and honey. Another mug of coffee at 8am. Sometimes, I will have a full English breakfast on holiday somewhere. Sometimes, sticky rice & BBQ pork on sticks Sometimes, Pad Krapao Kai dao, Suki, Sometimes, whatever takes my fancy - depending on what my wife cooks/buys/makes. Sometimes, just water and hot coffee. Ready for an apple, handful of nuts, a couple of dates and ginger tea at lunch time. Sometimes, a few Chang beers, Sometimes, a couple of Saowarot Gins with Schweppes tonic/bitter lemon Sometimes, what's in the fridge My days are quite variable and more than enough for me. At 77, my weight has alternated between 63 -70Kls Plenty of exercise in the garden and the stairs for fitness. Workouts at 5am, 45 minutes on the treadmill and a healthy sex life keeps me young! Sometimes, I feel very young - sometimes, I feel achy and sometimes, but rarely, I feel <deleted>**ing old!
  8. When they removed the opener, did he go, 'Pssshhhhhfffft' and foam up?
  9. General Senator Duckworth , or Senator General Duckworth sounds OK. She obviously deserves both titles!
  10. Not only that, he appears to have written it in Vietnamese or other as well!
  11. My electric bill has been reduced a few times over the last few months. I received my new bill today and it is the standard price I generally pay at this time of the year. however, we will have increased our usage as our daughter does her online studying in her bedroom which is quite hot during the day. She is allowed to turn it on as she requires. Many times she does not want it but it is still an extra usage on our monthly bill. Otherwise, the ACU is on in only 2 bedrooms at night 9pm to 6/7am - hers and ours. I think it is quite good at the price.
  12. I agree entirely. This lady probably relied on her husband to do the necessary paperwork while he was alive and may not have even been aware of what she was supposed to do. I feel very sorry for her and the fact that she lost her husband recently just increases my sympathy for her. She isn't a young woman and probably needs more help than the pompous attitude of the Immigration department with their proudly displayed, 'Caught a dangerous security risk' Photo Op. Of course the law needs to be followed, but for crying out loud - some human kindness, please.
  13. Very simply, the positive side of this story is that he's happy. The deal worked for him and he has taken care of his wife and MIL. Brilliant. I am happy for him as well. You, on the other hand appear to be the negative, pessimistic kind of guy who always has a half-empty glass and can't wait to criticise the pleasantries of success. Furthermore I like his take on his story of success, rather than your dismal prattle. I bet you don't have many friends.
  14. Your version of your job description reminds me of another manager. A guy called David Brent. There was a comedy series on UK TV about him and his staff. You sound a little similar to him; hitting on your female staff instead of managing them Rankles of favouritism and bad management. The comedy was entitled, 'The Office' It will relieve your boredem, make you feel at home and akin to Mr. Brent. If you're English. (If American, don't bother with the copied US version - nowhere near as hard-hitting or funny). There. solved your short term problem. Oh, and by the way, do you 'chat' up with your male staff? They must feel very left out. Again, poor management. no wonder you're bored......
  15. I kind of thought that, having read many of your posts and like what you write. I see many others have picked up on it - I agree, getting old is a real sh*t and I too make many mistakes. Haha
  16. "I just hope they are planning to kill it". worgeordie - is that what you really meant to write?
  17. Well, it works two ways. On entry to the restaurant, when the restaurant demands to see your vaccine credentials, demand to see theirs at the same time; The owner's, waitresses, cleaners and the chef's vaccine documentation. Then is the time to produce yours!
  18. Just keep your eyes peeled for the two BIBs. on a motorbike who seem to stop in the most unusual places, collect something from a box/container, whatever and then ride on to the next one. I see them regularly. No police work appears necessary and any misdemeanors by the passing public is totally ignored. That is not their job. Protect and serve their own interests, is.
  19. So true. About 13 years ago, shortly after I met my now wife, she needed some medication, so we went to a 'respected' hospital in CM. Her medication, a small tube of cream, came to 1,000 Baht. 13 years ago, when the baht was higher, it was not too much of a problem, even though my initial thought was "you know where you can ram it. About 2 weeks later, the cream was finished. By chance, I went to a local pharmacy, nothing special. Identical cream, same manufacturer - 30 Baht! I never went to that hospital again. Every time I pass it, my words of 13 years ago, echo in my mind and "Ram it!"
  20. It is 16:12, today, 2 as I read this and lo and behold - up on my screen flashes a message - "Thailand eases COVID-19 restrictions" Wow! What a mind-reader. You gotta laugh!
