Grafting mango trees
I have mango trees that are flowering right now. One for the second time. Growing fruit from seed you are not likely to get the same exact fruit as the parent. There are a few mango varieties that grow true from seed from what I have read. They are called polyembryonic varieties. It is also possible that a mango grown from seed will be sterile and never fruit.

Getting Older: Do you still fantasize about being famous? (Maybe, your greatest regret?)
I would never want to be famous. Rich is ok as long as you keep it on the low.

American Expat in Pattaya Gains Appreciation for Giving Out Free Bike Helmets
Very nice gesture. The man has a good heart. It pains me when I see a motorbike with an adult and 1-4 kids on it and only the adult is wearing a helmet. But mostly none of them are wearing helmets. I guess the police don't fine you if the driver is wearing a helmet even if the others are not. I think the main reason you see people wearing helmets is just to avoid a fine, not for safety.

Thai Bank asking reason for remittance
I know SCB calls to ask what the money is for if it is over $20,000 US. All they really want to know is if it is for personal use or for purchasing property. Also as TOPT mentioned when they called me they would tell me the rate but then tell me they were going to give me a better rate. I guess because of the size of the transfer.

What’s the latest on the LPG etc.?
My brother had a pickup that had a dual system. You could switch between benzene and LPG. It ran like doo doo and had a hard time going up hills. Judging by the local LPG station hardly anyone is using it anymore. About 10 years ago it was fairly busy. It's rare to see a car there now.

Have you called the cops?
Where we bought property in rural Ratchaburi it costs 1,000/month for the red box. In our case it is divided among the 10 people that own property on the soi. So 100/month. The police drive out only 2-3 times per week. But otherwise they would never be there.

Some of the old style barbers do ear cleaning. They use a long scraper. There are scrapers for sale on lazada. You can do your own.

Thai woman spills beans on corrupt cop’s love-linked traffic fines
He should have stuck with the old cash on the spot payments. So I guess she didn't identify herself as a police officer. They usually don't fine each other. That's why you see the badges on the front of cars. Although one police officer I know told me a lot of them are fake. I had asked him for one for my car. 🙃
