Landlord spraying for termites inside the house... Is this normal?
rwill replied to bamboozled's topic in Chiang Mai
That's what I have seen too in some of my friends and relatives places that have been treated. -
I try my hardest to avoid refined sugar or corn syrup stuff. But I know when I go to restaurants here I am probably getting sugar. They love sugar in just about everything.

Change from reirement to marriage visa
rwill replied to GregBow's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
They did change the rules but it was never 800K for the full year. It used to be 800K 3 months before the extension and you were free to use it all until the next 3 month period. Then they changed it to 800K two months before and three months after the extension with 400K the rest of the year. Here's the link you wanted. 22. In the case of retirement: -
It definitely was when I drove home from Bangkok to Ratchaburi Wednesday night.

And the 35 expressway pretty much doesn't exist anymore going thru Samut Sakhon. All traffic goes through the frontage road and goes down to 1 lane in a couple of spots plus in some areas cars parking in the left lane effectively making it 1 lane in those areas too. This is while they are building the elevated expressway to go from Bangkok to Huahin. Looks like a couple more years of construction.

Change from reirement to marriage visa

3 months after your extension you can take the account down to 400,000 but have to get back up to 800,000 2 months before your next extension is due. This is without changing to a marriage based extension. -
When I pay with my debit card I get 3 different responses. They change from time to time. One the payment goes through without doing anything else. Two the payment gets redirected to the bank site and a one time code is sent from my bank. Three Lazada sends me a one time code without redirecting to the bank.

Do you shake hands in other countries or refuse to do that too? Anyway a wai is more sanitary than a handshake. Even in handshakes some use it to try to show dominance. Like squeezing extra hard or not giving you a proper grip. My Thai friends often want hugs too.

Apparently it is possible to own a lion with the proper permit. https://thepattayanews.com/2023/03/02/chinese-neighbor-alarms-pattaya-residents-with-his-pet-white-lion/ "According to police, Mr. Shen produced legal documents showing he had bought the lion for 500,000 baht from a Thai man, Mr. Yothin Nakorn, who owned a white lion farm in Chachoengsao province. However, the Chinese man could not show a license required to raise a lion, which the authorities advised him to later request from the Office of Conservation Area 2, within an undisclosed time frame."

How is 90 day reporting supposed to work?
rwill replied to SunsetT's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Why worry about it? Just do it and it will be 90 days the next time. The first 90 day report will have to be done at the office. After that you can do it online. -

From the linked article: "On December 9, she sought the guru’s help once again. He visited her house and, using a walking stick, detected an object beneath the floor of her house. The object was revealed to be a bag containing various items, including a kaffir lime, nails, ancient bee wax, an animal tooth, a piece of cloth soaked in yellow liquid, pieces from a cremation site, and fragments of a bowl. The bag also contained a message stating that the house would break in 2023, the mother bedridden in 2023, and a death in 2024." Sounds like a set up to me.

That is not true. Often stated here and perhaps more true in certain areas. I was on Koh Chang and a kid on a motorbike coming in the opposite direction lost control on a curve. I saw him losing control and stopped hoping he would not hit me. But he ran right into my truck. There was never anyone saying that I was at fault. We did have to meet at the police station the next day and make statements. My insurance agent was there and met with the other family to discuss them paying for the damages. That was the last I ever heard of it.

Irishman’s life hangs by a thread after mosquito bite in Thailand
rwill replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Bangkok hospital in Ratchaburi not very many of the doctors speak english fluently. Not even close to fluent. But this Bangkok hospital is cheaper than ones in other areas. I think when my wife had surgery there an ICU room was 12,000 baht per day. A far cry from what they are quoting in the article. My wife had a titanium plate put in her neck and the total bill was cheaper than what they are saying for about 2 days for him. What is confusing about the story, as someone else already mentioned, if a mosquito bit him on a ride in a taxi to the airport he would have been out of the country before he turned ill. And what's up with them saying 'rare mosquito bite'. It's quite a common occurrence. -

Dealing with immigration and the Dept. of Land Transport are totally separate things. If I had the option to renew my drivers license for 900 baht without going to DLT I would take advantage of that. Seems like you are overreacting to a joke.
