That is not true. Often stated here and perhaps more true in certain areas. I was on Koh Chang and a kid on a motorbike coming in the opposite direction lost control on a curve. I saw him losing control and stopped hoping he would not hit me. But he ran right into my truck. There was never anyone saying that I was at fault. I think when my wife had surgery there an ICU room was 12,000 baht per day. A far cry from what they are quoting in the article. My wife had a titanium plate put in her neck and the total bill was cheaper than what they are saying for about 2 days for him. What is confusing about the story, as someone else already mentioned, if a mosquito bit him on a ride in a taxi to the airport he would have been out of the country before he turned ill.
