  1. It is a quandry. I don't have a reference to back it up. It's just what my friend (and strangely his name was Tommy, too) told me the Doctors had told him. I was glad I got to speak to him before he passed away. We'd been friend since 1971. I found one with a quick google search, but it sort of blows off my story. My guess in Tommy's case it was the only cause the could come up with for his liver disease. https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/statins-and-alcohol
  2. @tomgreen Wow... you got a lot of advice and comments, which is why I tagged you. I am not advising you... just commenting. I sort of went through the same process with my Thai Doc and I'm not changing to any other, because she's one of the smartest Docs I've met in her nephrology field. However, I did find that she liked to use me a bit as a lab rat. (It was really evident with regard to my blood pressure medication(s)). But yes, cholesterol high, take lipitor. Cholesterol low, okay, you can stop. I didn't. I reduced my dosage to one 10mg tablet every 3 days. My cholesterol readings were just fine so far since then. I did think about just cutting the pills in half and taking 1/2 daily, but the every three days was easier (for me). On another note. Do you drink alcohol. My friend was a social drinker, mostly wine and a little beer, some whiskey. He died from liver disease in his mid-60's and the doctors in the USA attributed it to his use of statins and alcohol. I didn't understand all that, but it made me very cautious about taking more than I absolutely needed. Best Wishes, James
  3. Not surprising you don't/didn't understand what he was saying. Maybe yall should listen again and not take his whole speech out of context. Just another Rolling Stone hit piece.
  4. Got that right. My niece was here last week and she stayed in the cheapest accommodation we could find... (well not THE cheapest) and we still spent a bunch of money...
  5. Interesting how a tax report document came to be known as a "tax return" when so little of the time money is actually returned.
  6. And this is why the western world (europe & the usa) have an immigration problem. I would have included australia, but their 'bleeping' liberals haven't gotten quite as ignorant, appalled as they are in the us & europe (yet).
  7. I think you're being ignored now.
  8. I agree OMFarang, but have you noticed, people on here have quit using the word katoy or lady-boy. It's transgender now... TG I'm passed my prime. I'll probably never stop calling them katoys even if it becomes 'the law'.
  9. It's all political BS jargon to slander the other party and leaders.
  10. I suggest you start here and see how it goes. https://ihchiangmai.com/study-for-free/ A google search goes a long way. (just saying).
  11. You lose a lot of credibility when you cite anything from CNN.
  12. Actually Google translate is not that good, but it can be used to communicate in brief exchanges. Even then you might have express what you wish to convey to the Thai person by changing some words (like using 'also' instead of 'too'. Just an example). If you're looking to get documents translated you might look for a Thai student age 17-18 who's attending Regents International School in Pattaya. That person will have a strong knowledge of Thai, because of his/her family, and will have learned English at the International school.
  13. Brother Farang, I can remember 15 yrs ago, partying hard on Soi 4, then the disco in the hotel or off the "coffee shop" Thermae. Shack up with a 'sweet thang' for a couple of hours and be heading over to the Nana Cafe to eat breakfast at about that time of morning. I even ran into a couple 'friends' there one morning. I haven't been down there in over 7 years; although, we drove down soi 4 at about 9:30 this past Wednesday and sighted a couple of 'thang' who looked like they were headed home. Good luck in you quest. I just don't have the desire anymore...
  14. I have never heard that and have lived here 27 years. I guess it depends on where you live, but there's always been a 'cool' season in the descriptions that I've been given.
  15. I use the sprayer and/or the toilet seat washer (mostly imported from Japan or China). I've been here 26+ years and never had a problem. I use very little paper to dry my bottom. No worries, mate.
  16. I normally park under the building where the Burger King is located just West of Sukhumvit Soi 3. I then catch a taxi around to the Embassy avoiding all the Witthayu Rd (aka Wireless Rd) traffic trying to find a parking space or dropping off people. Let the taxi driver manage that problem. After the consular business is finished, I walk back to the Burger King and eat. I forget the time allotted for free, but it was cheaper than parking at Sindhorn Tower. I've done this in the past, also.
  17. Hum.. and I thought it was toad.
  18. This is great info. IMO, this is what AseanNow is all about, providing and sharing info about Thailand, the visa & passport insights and misc. problems living in paradise.
  19. I've meet up with one of the moderators here at my house who helped me with a little project in his line of knowledge (only cost me a couple of beers and we got on well). I think there's a lot of folks here who share similar ideals. Though, having a specific party and trying to get a bunch of socialist, communist, terrorist, democrats, conservatives or republicans together is probably not a good idea.
  20. Simon, I don't have a bunion (Is that what that large knuckle is called)... Other than the large size of your big toe knuckle our feet look surprisingly similar; although, your toes are longer than mine (or appear to be). I would have said that the "flat" spot before your second toe is swelling (or edema, possibly from some irritation in that knuckle, but that's pure speculation). Now, about the pain in the 2nd knuckle joint of your 'longest' toe. I had that problem about 15-16 years ago. I went to see my orthopedic surgeon who'd done my knee replacement. He told me it was Freiberg Disease and prescribed Voltaren 75 mg tablet once per day. It worked. I took the medication for about 5-6 years and then basically quit (I take other NSAIDs for the constant ache I have in my hips from the replacement surgeries). You should talk to a Doctor before you jump into taking an NSAID (Ibuprofen is an NSAID and many Doctors do not like it because of the potential damage to the kidneys or liver). As regards finding a podiatrist, it is not easy in Thailand. Or at least when I was looking a view years ago, there was only a podiatrist coming to BNH once a week from Singapore and he/she was only here for the morning. I gave it a miss. Good luck. I hope this helped.
  21. Good for her. It's still an unjust world, but then as He preached the rain falls upon the just and the unjust, so the river will still rise (in your backyard). I still love the idea that there is a heaven and continue to believe (no matter how much $h👁️t I get here). 😇
  22. I find it laughable that so many of the 'financial' writers in the US keep hinting at a rate cut. They and the rich f_ks that don't need one or are only marginally affected by inflation keep parroting this noise. Inflation is still high. Such sweet words like it's only 3.1 when you take the volatile food and energy cost out of it. And yet, those are the things that common people buy. Bunch of cr_p mouthed whiners.
