  1. It's an abbreviation of mathematics. Hope this helps.
  2. In practice what does this mean? While Thailand is on the UK's red list, everyone arriving from there has to quarantine irrespective of vaccine. Once they have done the quarantine, does just having non-approved vaccine mean further restrictions while in the UK, for example going to events that require participants to be vaccinated?
  3. To be honest they all offer much the same as they are all in central Bangkok! You definitely have to explore (or employ an agent), or, as many have advised you already, look at the location of your work/school, as day to day travelling/commuting is key.
  4. Ruamrudee sois 1, 2 & 3 (parallel to Wireless Road) are anything but hi-brow or hi-so. A good range of affordable condos in a prime city centre location.
  5. I didn't realise there were as many as 68 boarding schools in Thailand.
  6. "Also in the news were comments from others involved in children's education that online learning has been a year wasted in the lives of Thai children. Calls are being made to get schools opened as quickly as possible so children can resume classes and resume social contact with other children. It is felt that it is not just their learning that has suffered in various lockdowns over the last two years but their social development also." Finally good to see this being acknowledged! Now get the schools open!
  7. There may be some here without any qualifications, but I expect most have a TEFL qualification of some sort (and a degree if they want to work legally). Fortunately, explaining Shakespeare isn't required when teaching grammar and pronunciation to non-English speakers!
  8. The qualifications to teach English as a Foreign Language in the UK are no different from Thailand. In the UK more importance is placed on a decent TEFL qualification like a CELTA or Trinity TESOL, while in Thailand they care most about a degree and a nice face.
  9. He is fairly well connected. A good go-to source for news, along with his news site @ThaiNewsReports
  10. Staying at home as much as possible is your choice, but most people are not so risk adverse.
  11. In Bangkok I don't think anybody is doing it! A couple of times I've checked my temperature and got a 'high' reading but was just ignored, so I just went in. I've not seen anyone scan the QR code or write down their telephone number for months.
  12. Exactly the point I made earlier. But can anyone remember the requirement to move back from deep-red to just red?
  13. I think there's a new thread now that's not just about Pattaya.
  14. I suspect a lot of provinces will be moved out of deep-red shortly before 1 October.
  15. Good news. What is the number that will allow a province to be moved from dark-red to just red?
  16. Only in Pattaya? I thought it was going to apply nationwide.
  17. Fortunately, nothing like this appears to be on the agenda for Bangkok or other provinces, but I guess it could be. My school have been told an announcement about schools will be made next week.
  18. Nearly all international schools in Phuket, or nationally? It doesn't seem workable to me. Forcing vaccinated families to be quarantined or made to stay in and pay for, a hospitel when just one kid out of the class tests positive is ridiculous.
  19. I thought the Phuket model had already been rejected? I would remove my kid from any school that had that policy!
  20. Only allow schools that have all teachers and support staff vaccinated to open. Unvaccinated parents can choose whether to risk sending their kids to school or keep them at home (or continue with online learning if that's available).
