Using 2 Bank Accounts For Retirement Visa?
DrJack54 replied to HugoFastor's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Never understand why folk use the bank update in wall. You have to obtain bank letter. So unless the banks are long way from your immigration office then why not walk into the bank... request the letter along with giving them 100b for letter and 100b deposit into the account. Obviously that's very easy at CW with most banks onsite. Maybe not so simple in the boonies. -
Using 2 Bank Accounts For Retirement Visa?
DrJack54 replied to HugoFastor's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
As mention earlier , I use two accounts same bank. FD and savings I deposit 1000b into FD and 100b into savings on day of attending immigration. The bank provides bank letter (one) listing both accounts and balances. Charge 100baht. -
Thai Visa at Vientiane
DrJack54 replied to Onerak's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Have not read any reports other than warnings and hassle. Recently an elderly lady was put through the wringer however that was BKK to KL and flight straight back the same day. Personally think out/back in same day using air and visa exempt entry not a good idea. -
Using 2 Bank Accounts For Retirement Visa?

Which immigration office? Some want to see activity on the day of applying for extension by way of small deposit/withdrawal. For an update an actual deposit would give the days date you make the deposit -
Using 2 Bank Accounts For Retirement Visa?

Don't really follow the logic. For such a small amount (50k) Thinking best to have the 800/400k in a dedicated account for immigration purposes and open another account with a credit card with whatever funds you want to place in the account. Having stated that, I use to accounts for immigration 600k in a FD account and approx 400k in a savings account. Touch neither and use another account for day to day banking. Sort of slightly regret that. -
Thai Visa at Vientiane
DrJack54 replied to Onerak's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
No doubt you considered the initial entry (Mar 15) to be visa exempt entry. That option would be 15 days shy of your required 6 month stay. Just a consideration. A longer stay even possible with a border run. -
Thai Visa at Vientiane
DrJack54 replied to Onerak's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
For Vientiane I wouldn't even consider mini van. Flights Bangkok to Udon Thani and then either mini van from Udon airport or bus station near central plaza is easy. About an hour on straight drive. A companion that knows Vientiane would be a bonus. -
Thai Visa at Vientiane
DrJack54 replied to Onerak's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Bumping thread as you didn't have reply One thing that you should check out is waiting time for appointments at Vientiane. Your plan is workable. One thing you could add to the mix is some other places for the tourist visa. Examples such as Saigon etc. Depends where you would be staying in Thailand. There are trip report threads about border and visa runs from Udon Thani. -
45 days Visa Exemption
DrJack54 replied to WalsallRobbo's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I wouldn't fly out and return the same day visa exempt entry. -
In reality the 90 day report would be done online or via mail to office where you usually live. No need to file a TM30 and do your 90 report at a province just because you are staying there . For example in March 2020 I stayed on Koh Samed for 8 months, due to covid restrictions in Bangkok and elsewhere. I did my 90 day reports via mail to CW as that's where I live.

First time Applicant for Retirement Visa
DrJack54 replied to Rovering's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
First up I live Bangkok and have assisted (or tried to) to open bank account for various people. In Bangkok the banks required a residence certificate. Here comes the catch 22. Bangkok immigration will only supply a residence certificate if you have done a 90 day report.. Clearly not possible if on a visa exempt or tourist entry. -

Couple of points in your post. "10 years ago..." Also "CM". Your information is well past use by date. Post current experience. . For example Bangkok and others require a residence certificate. etc etc. Thinking the new money laundering laws played a part. -
OA extension 60 days before expiry date ?
DrJack54 replied to zenplay's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
First up you need to obtain reentry permit. You can apply for extension up till 3/9/2923. Best to apply few weeks prior to that date. Obviously you need to satisfy financials and insurance requirements -

Ignore that Just write any date or nothing. Same applies for departure date if reentry permit is obtained at immigration. -

Clearly you have no idea of requirements to open a Thai bank account with visa exempt or tourist visa entry. Especially in places such as Bangkok. -
Re-entry permit form for non-O visa
DrJack54 replied to Mick 1's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
The office for reentry permit is Zone 2. Past security control and PRIOR to passport control. At BKK they provide service to fill in form , provide photo etc. 200baht. Personally I prefer to have the form already prepared along with photo.
