Something fishy with th electric bills ?
foreverlomsak replied to moogradod's topic in The Electrical Forum
Wife and 2 children are Thai and can sleep anytime night or day without A/C, only one is used very intermittently by my daughter, when not at school, and she prefers to sleep without A/C. The one in the main bedroom is broken and I can't be bothered trying to find somebody local that can fix it. -
Downloaded Bangkok Bank app onto the 3 week old phone, inserted details for account 1, no problems. Now for account 2 (which happens to be my original 20+ year old account), app says "cannot proceed, go to your branch". Hey Ho off I go to the branch that holds the accounts, and it was log-in on my phone and she'll add the account for me, guess what same message, Oh I'll have to refer the problem to Bangkok for them to investigate. 2 days later wanted to increase the daily limit on the card from the preset 5K (which is useless), again "cannot proceed", off to the branch again, no problems I'll do it for you, failure, assistant phones the 1333 helpline and after 10 mins discussion in Thai, it's they'll amend it for you.

The Embassy do nothing with regards to the death of a UK passport holder other than telling you to ensure the passport is kept safe and that it is cancelled, to stop possible misuse. My comment was that Life Certs are not issued for people residing inside the UK as the Registrars inform government departments automatically on issue of Death Certificate, it does not happen for people living outside UK therefore Life Certs are required, difficulty comes when somebody is registered as living in the UK but in fact is residing outside, hence claims for repayment months after the event.

Depending on the size of the brown envelope it may have been a misunderstanding, he didn't understand that after the first "visit" that the brown envelopes were to be repeated on a regular basis. -
Extra account for retirement visa?
foreverlomsak replied to jethro69's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes they do, but the auto machine every other time overwrites previous entries, which makes things difficult. One time it put 3 or maybe it was 4 line entries on top of each other so the passbook could not be reconciled (needed to get a statement) and copies for Immigration is a total waste of time. -
Something fishy with th electric bills ?
foreverlomsak replied to moogradod's topic in The Electrical Forum
We live in a private house too, last months bill produced an all up rate of just over 5 Baht per unit, it's about as high a unit cost as I've seen. Your rate appears OK but you need to check if someone has piggy backed onto your electrical system (it happens quite a lot out here in my experience especially if you are not living in the house) PEA can easily check. For usage we are 4 occupants with 2 fridges, 1 chest freezer, an average of say 4 fans running 24/7, 2 laptops and 2 TV's running probably 14/15 hours a day, plus lights as required for 7 rooms + 3 toilets, 2 water pumps (1 for a deep well filling a storage tank and 1 maintaining pressure in the house) also various cooking appliances 2500/3000 Baht per month at current time. -
They all have mobiles and QR codes on them. The customer scan's QR code on vendors phone enters amount and it goes straight into vendors account and "ping" vendor gets confirmation of receipt, no fancy EFTPOS machine required.

I'm way north but think I might need to give it a try, apparently our Tambon has a post office but nobody knows where it is, and contacting the local delivery man doesn't help, it just encourages him to (in one case only to my knowledge) to bring the parcel a couple of days later. Have thought about getting a Box No in the local town, but my pension providers have advised that using PO Boxes as addresses are not acceptable.

well said that man, has been reading my mind -
If you say so, guess your retirement not on marriage, the IO has to interview the wife, write up a report on said interview, at the time I was on marriage there were a number of papers completed by the IO that you don't touch and I've never seen for retirement. Then there is his recommendation report to higher "regional" authorities, following the home visit report if one is made (and I've had three). Account balance - nothing is easier than an account that never has transactions, never changes balance. When on marriage was questioned a few times about what money we live on for the 3 months the 400K was tied up and asked to provide proof of other funds in another account, never been questioned the same under retirement.

Not always. I was refused a marriage extension, despite having my wife and our 2 kids with us. We provided copies of Khor Rhor 2 and Khor Rhor 3, they wanted to view my "affirmation of freedom to marry" which was retained by the Amper when we registered the marriage and "misfiled", which was attested to by the head of the Amper. They were still of the view no affirmation no marriage, you go retirement or go away. I think the problem lay with the Senior IO, he didn't want to do the paperwork involved in granting a marriage extension and I was able to transfer to retirement, had only that year turned 50.

Absolutely no problems on Sunday night, no additional proofs required other than enter password again, but I do have an account with them, assume op hasn't from the requirements (sounds similar to requirements to obtain an account, not just send money). -

There is an autofill of your details after, you complete (I thinks) passport no & Country, saves mistypes just need to double check the data like "permission to stay date" and last entry.
