  1. Hasn't been my experience, 6 trips, and they've all been rather prompt. Don't leave people behind, and the duel line should help with the occasional 'wait' for the other one to pass issue. That said ... FLY
  2. THANKS ... nice channel For those that prefer Canola Oil ... no worries for y'all 👍
  3. A lot, since my back doesn't do well at 90° - 105°, so bed at 130° - 145° with legs stretched out (no DVT) is much more comfy. But throw in some chores, few dog walks, cooking (mix bread, shape, bread & I rest 30 mins, deflate, bread & 1 rest 25 minutes, turn oven on, rest 10 more minutes, in at 230°C, rest 14 minutes, rotate & lower temp, rest 16 minutes, take out). Slave all day in the kitchen. Troll AN (from bed again) ... go prep dinner ... etc etc etc. In & out all day .. on the bed also To much past couple days, as have all day, on/off drizzle going on. As soon is it slows, we're out of here. Another day and things will clear up down South.
  4. Just think, any 5 of those in the day, would give you enough substance to live on. 5 X ฿40 = ฿200 X 30 days = ฿6000 monthly food budget. Best part, no dishes to wash ฿3-4k for your room & utilities, and you have a ฿10k a month living budget. ฿10k X 12 = ฿120k a year ... $3350 USD Trying living on that back in the ol' USA And we need to bring in ฿800k for a retirement visa/extension ... ... Livin' large The non-American Dream
  5. Way too much to list ... so just some of my regular items (7-11) ... sweet tooth fix at 7-ll; cheesecake, black forest cake, various pandan or pinapple rolls/puffs/eclairs from 20 & up, but <40 ... same with ready made meal for 35-39-40. Meatier ones 45 & 49. ... the whole single piece ice cream case ... garden salad ... all the toasties (bread or croissant) ... BBQ Bao buns 2 or 3 depending on size ... a crappy can of local beer, is still < 40, I think ... NO THANKS ... Full Moon wine thing, still <40 ? ... I'd be remiss if didn't state, add 2 baht, and get the Double Pork Cheeseburger ... Chicken curry puffs, where available 10 baht ea, more flavors besides chicken ... coffee/tea, instant or fresh, hot or cold ... pack of bologna ... Royal bread for the bologna sandwich ... some chips to add to it, or on the side Of course street food ... unlimited amount of items, a few notables ... bag of ready made salad ... sweet tooth fix, cakes, donuts, etc ... skewers of various meats, 10 baht & up ... dumplings or gyozas ... prepared take away dishes, or curries in a bag. ... various sliced fruits 20 & up, size dependent Almost a full length ride on the BKK rail lines (BTS/MRT) as i think highest fare is still 45 baht. That's if you get off and don't simply hop back one, to one station before you boarded, then 15 baht. Cheap sight seeing without the PM2.5 exhaust.
  6. Advice ... DON'T Leave it home, if you can. Why put the dog through that stress. AND ... TH is not pet friendly.
  7. As stated, no train to Phuket. Worth it ... yes & no ... ... for the experience, maybe, did it once, and longest only bkk to Hua Hin, 4 hrs, and once was enough. it is nice, one time, and scenery is nice, daytime. Short leg to Bang Saphan also, and OK. Took the bus back ... nuff said. Did it 2X since, to & from PKK, out of necessity, and couldn't wait for it to be over. If doing, daytime better. Phuket ... FLY IF want to experience the train, take the tourist train to Kanchanaburi or sunflower fields & lake (Lopburi & Pasak Chonlasit Lake)
  8. I haven't done much on the lower Andaman side. Islands that is, and just stayed on the mainland. Ko Phayam off of Ranong was bliss, 20 yrs ago. Haven't been back. Smaller islands kind of concerned me, with the wee one, and if bit by a snake. Evan on Ko Phayam, one gal I know chased a cobra out of her bungalow Now we got the dog to complicate things
  9. Yes you are ... ... but I won't hold that against you I they wanted to really screw her, the could have gave her a 30 year sentence. Let that sink in.
  10. Yea, but not the sexpats or sex tourist type. Just a bunch of ol' farts, socializing, sipping a few nightly, surfside at a couple spots.
  11. Yes ... been visiting for short week, couple days, just a pit stop over the 15 years before living here, and not much has changed. Hadthong hotel was the go to for a long time. Have 2 new ones, past 5 years. Usually a stop on the way to Phuket, 10 yrs running, then simply stopped going to Phuket, and spent our 'beach' holiday at Ban Krut and or Thung Wua Laem, where you can actually go in the surf, on the Gulf side. Phuket just not worth the extra drive ... been there, done that, 2X a year, and now way too crowded. Never was a fan of Ao Nang, Krabi. Strangely, never popped around to Railay beaches PP was way too cool, and Khao Lak was a regular pit stop also, but both pre tsunami. Phuket was bliss during covid, but now back to, rather more congested than ever. I await the next pandemic before visiting again
  12. Too funny or silly to reply. Is there any manufacturing left, that ha moved to MX. Thai are educated enough to do anything needed for manufacturing. If not, robotics will do it. I think who owns the company is the least of the Thai workers concerns. The immigrant workforce they have to compete against is more of an issue. So more jobs will be welcomed for those that wish to work.
  13. Just glad it's a really boring town with no nightlife, except mediocre surfside restaurants, without AC. Hot ... DAMN HOT If sitting surfside, choose wisely to avoid the smell of sewage ... oops, I mean storm water run off. And definitely don't walk on the sand barefooted, or at all. I won't let my dog walk on it, it's that gross. Head over to Ao Manao to swim in the shallow, bathtub warm, unrefreshing, keep your ears out of, surf You'll need to self drive, as no public trans. All keeping PKK, nice & quiet.
  14. I can't say, not having experience with the justice system of RU. Do you ??? As I stated, high profile person, breaking the law, making an issue out of her (instead of STFU), and simply making herself a pawn in a larger chess game. Good thing she's good at sport, as she's an idiot on world politics. A 9 year sentence for smuggling ... she got off easy. RU'S drug code
  15. Nobody forces anyone to work anywhere ... choices abound. I worked some crap jobs, nobody forced me to. I worked crap jobs that paid better or better bennies. My choice ... we all prostitute ourselves, till we don't have to. Some bad deals, some OK, some better ... choices. Chose wisely.
  16. Not you ... she should of STFU after the arrest, and let the back channels do their thing. Probably, maybe, would have been resolved sooner, without the high profile trade. Or Buddha forbid, she used common sense and simply didn't violate the law.
  17. That had absolutely nothing to do with anything. Just a imaginary talking point for the alphabet folks
  18. Then after the fact, she simply attracted to much attention to her case, so had to be made an example of. When in a country that might not appreciate 'freedom of expression' from foreigners, you should probably STFU. She made bad choices all around, since being high profile, from a country, that is holding or controlling their citizens in prison. RU & USA, both always looking for someone to trade for their own. Then breaking the law, the crying about it ... oh well
  19. I consider that a good thing, for the Thai economy and workers. Look at the countries that outsource most of their manufacturing now (to CH ), and they seemed to simply become a service oriented workforce for the elite. What to citizens of those countries complain about ... 'we don't manufacture anything any more'. Along with the loss of employment opportunities, for those that depend on employers for income.
  20. From what I read/see, most seed oils are the worst, especially heated. I stick with olive, lower temp cooking. Debating with myself, to stick with a peanut oil I like, for deep or higher temp, or switch over to palm oil. The peanut oil I use, is a 'first press' peanut oil, so not overly processed. Strangely, when I bought that, I also bought 'cold pressed' peanut oil, smaller amount, 2-3X the cost, and figured it's a fake product. It has no peanut smell or taste. Where the larger, first press bottle, smells and taste of peanuts Palm gets a thumbs up from some, and a bad rep from others. Thumbs up usually has some explanation why, the bad reps, seem to just be hearsay repeat, with nothing backing it.
