  1. To the title ... ... you must not live in TH
  2. For us it would be about 78% cheaper, if we had to charge the BEV using the grid. Minimal use would only be ~฿4 / kWh, or 70% if ฿5 / kWh vs 91 @ ฿35 / L MG ZS EV vs ICE version. When O&A, ฿7.5 / kWh = ฿347 per 340 kms vs ฿850 if using petrol. Still 60% savings 👍
  3. As opposed to ... ... LBJ supporting and prolonging civil war in Nam, killing millions ... Clinton & NATO destruction of Bosnian and Kosovo ... Bush 2 invade & occupy of Iraq & Afghanistan, resulting in about a million dead, and 10X that displaced. ... Obama's continuation of the same ... Biden's open border policy, disrupting the lives of millions of Yanks with the influx of illegal immigrants, with criminals, cartel members and illegal low wage workers disrupting the Yank labor force, and pay scales. Along with support of UA conflict w/RU. OMT ... and DJT is the anti Christ ... Trying to solve some of these past issues are heinous acts of leadership.
  4. Love the ones I eat also, and don't miss the ones I avoid; potatoes, pasta & rice. Rice is easy, as don't and never did care for it. Control the ones I'm addicted to; Rye bread & Tater tots. Rye has plenty of fat & protein on it when eaten, and the TT are deep fried, to slow the digestion and sugar / insulin spike to minimal. Homemade Cheesecake is my go to dessert, with only ~8gr of sugar per large slice, again, with heathy amount of fat & protein to go with it.
  5. Solar grilled chicken Phetchaburi
  6. Sugar has no nutritional value, except quick energy boost. Along with insulin spiking. Fat's on the other hand ... Call it carb phobia ... I call it better eating. Carbs don't give me anything that I can't get elsewhere, without the sugar & insulin spikes. I'm usually very picky with my carb intake, and try to stick to fibrous (greens) carbs. Avoiding most of the starchy carbs, as they really don't agree with me. On Topic ... as always ... Chocolate is great, though I do try to stick with just the cacao powder (100%), added to things (milk kefir yoghurt mostly), though if cool temps, hot chocolate drink always nice break from coffee. Or Mocha coffee. When I make chocolate bars, I have a hard time walking pass the frig. Too addicting 😎
  7. I would avoid buying rotisserie chickens from chain superstores. My thinking, if chicken not exactly fresh enough to sell raw, then to maximize profits, cook & sell, as the customer wouldn't know the freshness, or not so freshness. 5 Star when feeling lazy, or just a grilled chicken vendor, not trying to get rid of old birds.
  8. Thailand passport visa free countries 2025 https://visaindex.com/visa-requirement/thailand-passport-visa-free-countries-list/
  9. I stick it in the frig. Next day, all firmed up. Will melt in you hand rather quick, if holding, since no crap in it. Melts in your mouth, so freezer is good option also.
  10. Definitely, Two 5s better thana 10. Redundancy never hurts with energy. My only regret, and if thought about it more, would have went that route instead of the 8kW inverter. Along with a bit daily energy, and would never go amiss. With the price drops, think about a DIY project myself. Like the inverter Crossy posted, < 30k. Panels would be < 30k, and would all be mounted on ground level frame, no roof to deal with. Now just need to figure out, what to use it for 7 years at PKK, I'm getting bored. Can't think of what else to cook. Got milk & water kefir to tend to. Wife has the garden / greenhouse. Chickens are a bit too much hassle, then what to do when O&A.
  11. Nah ... I like a cool house, even the AC overnight instead of the fan. Cleaner air & lower RH. Also, have to drive around doing nothing. And if less than 250 kms R/T ... free. If I had to buy petrol to explore locally, I wouldn't bother, as nothing really worth spending money to see. We could seriously get by on 25 kms a month, and not even have to be the car, which is only 300 kms a year, and yet, 1st year put on 20k, and shy of 20k the following 18 months.
  12. Not having the back, crew, tools, experience (though not needed, I'm handy), and pricing components (LV / Deye rebranded) we used at retail level, 3 yrs ago, we went with an installer. Extra cost really wasn't worth trying to do myself. After seeing them wire everything in, I'm glad I did go with installer. Especially when they did a major rewire, when adding the 2nd ESS. As they originally had the water heaters (2X 3.5kW) on the grid ... WTF, I want to be off grid. Guess they thought we were stupid and would trip the system. OK, I did do that once, ACs on, (13 & 24BTU), car charging (2.3kW), baking (2kW), 2 frigs, 55" TV, 2 laptops, and whatever else, and I decided to take a shower ... oops. System off, and restarted itself a minute or 2 afterwards. 2.5 years in, no issues, and less than 2 yrs more, and the ROI will be realized, and the BEVs' petrol savings make that possible, or it would take a few more years for ROI. Only thing on the grid, is the BEV wall charger which is rarely used. Only if we need the car, after returning from an O&A, as I like returning at the 20% mark. Then top up, free with excess solar, though that may take a couple days, 37kWh. E-MB comes in handy then Since getting the digital meter, 16 days after installation of system, no load to the house at all ... 😎
  13. Smarter as to book smart and general world knowledge, unless they are Uni grad and their specialized fields. TBH, most of that knowledge really isn't useful in life. Almost as smart as Thais, as could live off the land, if the world went to sh!t. Not nearly as good as them, but I could survive. Guessing most expats would starve without Thais in their lives, if had to survive in the wild, or not so wild, on their own.
  14. I do use plastic here or anywhere really, just for those reasons. If I did, I'd scrape the 3 digit security number off the back.
  15. Fake news, with archive blip, with no info, and nobody wants to take credit. And RTNews links aren't allowed
  16. Maybe they'll actually honor them on Elephant Day ... and release them back to the wild. Give them their freedom.
  17. They don't even care if you are Thai Buddhist or Christians, they kill Thai Muslims also. Terrorist deserve one thing, a bullet in the head IMHO.
  18. They are not separatist, the are murderous terrorist. Their demands are wanting the 4 lower provinces. Never going to happen. Live in peace with everyone else living there, continue like it is. No need for a peace agreement, if there is peace. Try to stop killing people, and Thai military will stop killing you.
  19. Pretty hard to think about peace talks when the terrorist are still killing people
  20. As stated earlier, Turtles, easy, burn your plastic, and don't give to govt to dump in seas. Global Warming ... USA ... only 7 of highest temp were in 21st Century ...
  21. If not plans to live in TH, why not just rescind his citizenship. Actually might be the easiest way. https://www.siam-legal.com/thailand-law/renunciation-of-thai-citizenship-application-process/#:~:text=Applicant applies with competent officials,of Bangkok (30 days).
  22. @ExpatOilWorker Do you know how many kWh you are using a month now ? If so, base your system's minimal production on your highest usage month. 8kW inverter w/20kWh ESS is enough, (just some days), BUT, there is only 2 of us, and at nightfall, we're basically in the bedroom (also TV / vid room) till we wake the next day. Maybe a snack mid way thru the night, but very little electric use. About 8kWh overnight (14 hour period) and wake up to about 60% remaining in ESS. Like to stay above 50%, for longevity of batteries, and, if a couple crappy days in a row, that could be an issue, getting back 100-90-80%, first day, then less the next day. Hasn't happened yet, but again, it's just the 2 of us, and 1 room basically at night. So as stated in the thread; 1 AC, 1 TV, 2 laptops & 2 frigs are all that's running. If daughter lived here, that would be another of the same. Would have gone with two 5kW inverters & 30kWh of ESS, if not 3 inverters.
  23. Agree with others, and this has anything to do with road safety. More like drive legally & responsibly IMHO R I P
  24. OMT ... could ... should lead to a BEV. You'd be a fool not to, if having solar. Solar cuts about 10k a month off living expense. 5k for PEA savings & 5k from petrol savings. Come August, and that's 3 yrs having solar, and ROI is more than half done. And our 'installed' system, wasn't cheap. This guy will talk you through solar installation. The kid's a genius. I think key points, are, hook battery up last, and solar panels to inverter at night, when not producing. Save zapping yourself, as could easily kill you.
