I grew up in a 99% Jewish neighborhood! Did you?
bunnydrops replied to GammaGlobulin's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I never even knew any Jewish people until I was out of high school. Now I would say that most of my friends back in the States are Jewish. I can't remember many Jewish jokes. I was taken to something where they had a comedian who told Jewish jokes. Very funny. I remember he did some about dating ads. A 90-year-old man, not looking for long-term relationship. An three-time widow looking for someone to fill out a four-place burial plot. Ofcourse, some of the best comedians of all time were Jewish. -
In the US a couple of years back, many of the Hispanic families moved out. The workers were legal but many in their families were not. Then there was a labor shortage. Many of the fast food chains could not get workers for the $10 an hr, they were paying, so a wage war started, most went to $15, Panda Express went as high as $18. so they had to start paying more. Some were even giving out bonuses if they stayed on for 6 months. Even then many of the shops shortened their hours. The farmers couldn't get the field workers they needed because they could make more money doing easier work at the fast food shops. Now everyone wants to know why the price of food has gone up.

I don't think one way or another. But, indeed, I don't believe I have ever seen one on any one of my many flights. I was once surprised to see a fairly young woman operating a cargo train that seemed a mile long.

What devices are best for constant dog attacks?
bunnydrops replied to NONG CHOK's topic in Plants, Pets & Vets in Thailand
Slingshot. You get good at a distance, soon they are gone when they see you coming. Used to use an ultrasonic device that included a flashlight. Worked pretty well with the younger dogs, hurts their ears. Older dogs, not as well, maybe they don't hear as well. -
Mileage may differ. I had a bridge put in. Two root canals, on each side of the bridge. Going on 40 years ago. The bridge is a bit worn, to say the least.

It was about 10 years ago, so I don't remember what it cost, but they brought someone in and I was given a foot massage during the whole procedure.

My girlfriend/wife is 35 years younger.......
bunnydrops replied to Carlotta's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
There is a woman's side Locally, her much older husband died. Left her a nice house and a bit of money. She is nearly 55, not the beauty she was 30 years ago when she met him. She is very lonely. The only men she can attract now are looking more at the house and the swimming pool than at her. A very good chance she will live the rest of her life alone. Thai women worry a lot about that outcome. -
My (Thai) partner is losing her hair. Can anything be done?
bunnydrops replied to giddyup's topic in Health and Medicine
My wife does this, and I have seen the new hair growth. She takes about 3/4 cup of ginger and chops it up really fine. Pounds it a bit. Heats it in the microwave until it is hot. Wraps it in a clean cloth. Then after washing her hair, she uses the wrapped ginger to massage her scalp for 5 minutes, reheating the ginger when it cools down. Leaves it on for 5 minutes and then washes it off. 3 to 4 days in a row. She said the first day the top of her head gets really hot, but the following days are not so bad. -
I have never been much for shots. My last flu shot was around 2010. But I did take the COVID shots. Being in my late 70's I have many friends that haven't been as lucky as I have with my health. One was in a senior home that would have prevented me from visiting if I hadn't had the COVID shots. Just this year I know of two people who came down with COVID (Both just after flying to the West Coast from the east [Ohio, Delaware]). Both had had their shots. Both had flu-like symptoms for about a week. Will I take another COVID shot? At this point, I do not know. Playing it by ear.

Car Number Plate letters and numbers faded
bunnydrops replied to skorts's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Maybe a loophole in the law. Not a crime to make them, but it is a crime to use them on a car. I have always wondered why people don't get pulled over for having their plates whited out so they can't be read by the traffic cameras, -
None really. We all get a bit of razzing here. All you need is a bowl, mix it all together, form patties and fry.

So that's cheap and lazy

For breakfast sausage. It is easy enough to make your own using ground pork. Many recipes are on the web.

Unsure why 90-day online notify rejected
bunnydrops replied to david_je's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Are you sure you didn't get the 90 day when you did your extension? Imm always puts in a 90 day receipt in my passport when I pick up the extension. -
I was always told to look at the girl's mother if you wanted to know what the future would bring.
-
I am with you on that one. If nothing else, Imm work have more than just your word about the problem and may be able to get a short extension to work out the problem.

Debit card scam
bunnydrops replied to Lacessit's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I don't know if they have it in other countries, but some banks in the US will give you a one-time virtual card, or a card that can only be used with one location. The virtual card number is linked to your physical card. The "one-time" card is useful for once-in-a-while purchases. I have a different card number to pay True and another to pay the electric bill. The bank knows where to look for the problem if the card number gets snatched. EDIT I just wanted to add that each virtual card has a different number, security code, and expiration date. -
Swedish Man Arrested for Allegedly Working at a Bar in Karon
bunnydrops replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
I heard years ago that a guy got arrested for going behind the bar to change the CD at his wife's business. It was assumed that the business stepped on some competition's toes. Locally a guy ran a bar for years without a permit. The Police told him as long as he didn't serve Thais, they would let him do it. His place was a ways out of town. The police bought beer there:) -
I remember some years ago, a CEO started the company's first meeting with the people he hired by saying "If I have done my job right, I'm the dumbest person in this room". That is a sign of real intelligence.
