I use GoMo as a second SIM since May. I use it for mobile use only. At home just if 3bb would be down. Have a 150 GB volume with unlimited space for 999 Baht/year. Just now have 50/25 Mbit/s on my 4G mobile. Question: could you online register in your name with passport ? Failed for me, I had to have the daughter do it.

Pattaya's Dark Side: What You Won't Find in the Travel Brochures
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Will it end like the terribly overcrowded tourist spots in Europe where angry inhabitants chase after the tourists ("go home! <deleted> off!")? "Entry fee", tourist tax... -
New Thai Police Chief Sets Bold Crime-Fighting Agenda

The theatre starts with the "last year to retirement" folklore. What can be achieved in one year by a high rank expecting his pension? The promotions have little to do with achievements just seniority. -
Srinagarind Hospital overwhelmed by 830% rise in cancer patients
KhunBENQ replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
That's what I read. It's not a steep increase of cancer cases but some "program" allowing people to freely choose the hospital. And as Srinagarid is the top place up here it's no wonder they flock there. As I understood they normally have to to visit their "assigned"/"registered" hospital first and only if needed they will be transferred to a higher up hospital. All that does not apply to the wealthy class that will visit private hospitals. -
Just checked the area and all the roads are quite narrow two lane. So quite sure the truck simply parked blocking the lane like it or not, allowed or not. So it does not make a big difference whether he was already moving or not. Just another speeding bike rider overlooking(!) a parked or slow moving truck.

Just realized: that stopping on Beach rd and unloading to speed boats on the beach has been forbidden as far as I remember All at Bali Hai now? But still much less of the typical buses seen.
-
Came back from Pattaya Nov 19 after two weeks. Not seen a single bus stopping on beach rd. in the early morning unloading Chinese who walk over to the waiting speed boats to Ko(h) La(r)n. Not seen columns of buses with Chinese going down through Naklua rd Soi 18 to the Centara or other hotels. Always seen Indian men in groups of 3 up walking down Soi 8 They have whole hotels to their own. For me they were "everywhere". For me it's the Indians who fill up for the Chinese. Sure it was early before high season and totally subjective but I think it really had much less Chinese tour groups.

Still people believe that terrible air quality in Bangkok or Pattaya comes from crop burning? Think again. AQ in Bangkok has been bad since weeks before harvesting even began. And it currently is much worse than up here. Millions of vehicles creeping in endless jams. Pattaya the gridlock capitol of the east coast. Thousands of cars and Diesel stinkers locked in heavy traffic. And here I fear the overloaded trucks with their black smoke much more than the burning. If you want clean air you have to go far south and keep away from cities.

Swiss Tourist Attacked by Local Youths in Pattaya
KhunBENQ replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
That was it for a German "club member" getting excited when returning to his sacred Harley and see some rowdies sitting/leaning on it. He obviously was shouting at them and got beaten to death. Was on some island years ago. -

That's outrageous! Mine was 14:13! 😁 -
Just found on the Pattaya PR facebook. As usual in Pattaya, office crowded and handing queue numbers! 80 in the morning, 70 in the afternoon. Queue tickets from 7 AM, office opens 8:30. Except city hall, it should be possible at Banglamung district office? If "Nongprue Town Municipality Office" (on the eastside) can also be used?
-
For Thai people ID card, passport and driving license can be done at every responsible office. Some district offices even have service points at shopping malls.

Good point. And if you want to meet people who can survive without power, look at the peasants here. The 80 Baht electricity bill is for some tubes and maybe watch TV before going to bed a 8 PM. The tubes and TV can be omitted. Think of the condo owner with his panoramic ocean view from the 31st floor. Will he be fit enough to walk down not to speak of walking up.
-
Maybe tomorrow. Don't like doomsday topics before going to bed

Uninterrupted power source, basically a battery buffered device that will keep your computer for minites to hours. But really: what do you care about computers in a "large scale" power outage? There will be much worse problems. Starts with flushing the toilet in your condo not possible No water from the tap. No fuel at the station. All 7/11 and supermarkets shut down, have goods but can't sell. Looting will start sometime sooner or later. Goods will rot as fridges out. Don't think further please!

I needed a second to get the joke. Sure all the wonderful gadgets will be worthless. Can't buy you a loaf of bread. Doomsday predictions contain a widespread attack on the internet submarine cables. Major civilized countries will sink in chaos after 3 days without electrical power. Everything depends on electrical power, everything depends on internet.
-
How "large scale"? Is this a doomsday question? Generalized for the whole world?

Thai thief returns stolen motorcycle to police station, motive unclear
KhunBENQ replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
Parked outside his home, leave the keys at the vehicle. Even in our sleepy village I wouldn't do that overnight. Stupid as can be. -
You ask on the Pattaya forum and not all expats live in Pattaya. So expect some snippy answers. It's on Witthayu rd ("wireless rd") as so many embassies. Mine is north after Ploenchit rd. Will have to visit later in the year and will sure walk from BTS Ploenchit. An ugly architectural monster by the way

Older threads warn that there is no parking nearby, Most recommend to walk from MRT Lumpini. Short walk. How to get to Bangkok is "up to you" and what you want to pay, Cheap by bus, minibus and changing to public transport in Bangkok (MRT in this case) or take a taxi within Bangkok.
