  1. To Korat (Nakhon Ratchasima) city(?) it's roughly 250 km. On the route Suvarnabhumi to Pattaya it's about 10 Baht/km. As a ride to Korat will likely have no return trip you should expect more than that. Might add up to 4000 Baht. Try to contact this taxi service and ask whether they arrange such tour. https://www.tomtaxiservice.com/ (copy/paste link to browser, disabled in forum) city: just assuming. The province is big.
  2. That explains why I could download Windows installation file with ~800 Mbit/s. Highest ever seen for a download.
  3. Time for my first Gemini test. And the only meaningful content is: no info released yet 🙄 "Google has not yet released specific details about the power source for their new data center in Thailand. However, Google is committed to using renewable energy sources for its data centers, so it is likely that the Thailand data center will be powered by a mix of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind power."
  4. The data center project with PM involved is in the news since September. So this Davos thing is just a PR show. Important question for me: will Swiss cheese become cheaper 🤣
  5. When the winds come back and blow away the dirt all the plans and measures will be forgotten. Currently the whole subcontinent is close to no winds. The winds from the sea look like hitting a wall.
  6. Looked up yesterday and even deep south the air is all but healthy. The whole country is under a haze blanket.
  7. Yes and lets hope that such ideas will break through. But current politics in Germany celebrates huge battery farms.
  8. As I wrote they have to shutoff/lock the windmills due to too much wind
  9. They only idea they have is with huge battery farms. Bloody expensive and need a lot of resources. Storing electrical power in a cost efficient way is the number one question in all of sun/wind power discussion. Ab incompetent (green) German economy minister suggested that industries should work when the sun shines, the wind blows and pause during the dark phases!
  10. Ironically that leads to shutdown of the wind mills. Otherwise they wings would fly off, the electronics burn You not only need wind but good wind. In Germany news swing between close to no wind and sun power and too much, where to stick it? Those battery farms are expensive and need rare materials. Will be quite a waste problem like the EVs.
  11. Escape to the south? Forget it. A bit better but far from healthy/normal. First green spot is in Malaysia.
  12. Too late. Almost impossible to find a green spot this morning. Another poster wrote about Ko Samui at about AQI 130. Explain that with agricultural and waste burning? This genius minister avoids to name one of the biggest problems in pollution by vehicles with poor exhaust standards. For Bangkok and other areas the use of coal power stations and lot of industry adds up.
  13. See a doctor and take your colleague with you.
  14. Maybe a misunderstanding? There is a much recommended online "lecture" that will give you a certificate with QR code (valid for 6 months). Saves you from any sitting and watching videos in the office.
  15. Not doubtful but impossible on a legal way. Med.cert. always required since a few years. Physical tests (eye sight and reaction) at every extension. New picture taken at the office before printing. All else is shady/illegal/corrupt . Nothing CM specific.
  16. Confusing. A different question. Leave the plane in BKK yes and walk to immigration counter. But by the rules you would need onward/return at immigration(!) and they can hold you and send you back with the airline that brought you (which then will hold you accountable). Rule loosely/rarely enforced. Less likely than airline refusing you to fly/board at all.
  17. Exactly. You are depending on arbitrary decisions of the check-in /boarding staff.
  18. So you plan visa exempt 60 days plus 30 extension. Then border run and redo? At the second entry you should definitely be prepared with return or onward.
  19. If the flight is overbooked you are welcome for denied boarding. No return, no visa for 90 days? Remember that US airline which paid premiums to their boarding agents for every guest "caught" with some violation that brings money (mostly baggage affairs though). Ages ago I had a 32 day return ticket and had to shorten/rebook on the spot for a significant amount.
  20. Thappraya is 4th best Pattaya racing track after Sukhumvit, Thepprasit and Jomtien 2nd Rd. 😖
  21. Complete blackout. Missing words. Can you fall asleep on a bike? How long will it go straight?
  22. Nice collection although you could fill hours with that. So many spectacular ones over the years. A pickup flying meters above ground over the central divider and hitting an oncoming vehicle is still my worst nightmare.
  23. @KhunLA Your cons unfortunately apply to Pattaya/Jomtien too. And even worse for some.
  24. Anybody voting for Hua Hin? I only know what you find on the net. And that looks like a good mixture. Don't know about the prices though. The thread is in the Bangkok forum and might miss some attention?
