What do you really like/ enjoy, living in Thailand?

There are plenty of threads about all the bad things in LOS. Please keep the off topic complaints for them.

I'll start it off:

It's always warm and usually hot. Even when Thais are wearing ski jackets I'm in a T shirt and shorts.

Women still expose their legs in LOS. Seems like every woman I see back 'ome is wearing pants.

I can stay in a hut on the sand at the beach. Sure beats a tent, which is my only option back 'ome.

I can travel by night sleeper train. Wonderful way to get around Thailand.

Hotels are affordable. I don't need to take out a second mortgage to go on holiday.

Public transport is cheap and goes everywhere. I don't need to own a car.

Going to the cinema is cheap and like 40 years ago back 'ome, when going to the movies was "special".

The malls in LOS are spectacular.

Even the rain in LOS is amazing, and doesn't usually last all day, for days ( except when there is a storm off Vietnam ).

I enjoy being with my wife and grandson. The rest is old news and thus immaterial.

My favorite things about living in Thailand include:

1.  The food.  I love Thai food and all of it's flavors and varieties.

2.  The weather.  It may sometimes be very hot, but 9-10 months out of the year the weather is very enjoyable.  I never need to worry about digging out my car from a bad snow storm, or clearing my driveway of ice and snow.  Oh, how I don't miss that.

3.  The cost of living here is low compared to home (USA).  I feel like I can live like a king on my pensions and Social Security, much more so than I could if I still lived back in the USA.

4.  Overall, Thai people are very nice and friendly.

5.  Fantastic travel destinations within driving distances and at very reasonable prices.  I can choose between mountains or beaches;  it's all available in Thailand.

6.  I live with my wife's family who are all very loving and caring of me.  Makes me feel like a king!  I love them all.  They are so nice to me and very much appreciate everything I give and do for them.  I feel like they are as close to me as my blood relatives.

1. The climate

2. The climate and

3. The climate...

I never having to wear a jacket or coat here, not freezing, not having cold hands and feet...

There is more, but I'll limit my response to the main point.

The weather, I hate the cold.
The eye candy.
The food, good variety, cheap and available everywhere.
Thai people I find are friendly or disinterested but I've never encountered any nastiness towards me.
My gf , obviously.
Travel is so readily available, whether by taxi, motorcy , tuk tuk , song taew etc etc and so easy to find a hotel or resort at short notice.
Beautiful scenery.
The eye candy.
You can pretty much find anything you want in the way of food or things for the house etc.
Did I mention the eye candy ?

For me it's the lovely people more than anything else, they are always kind, helpful and friendly. My Thai friends are always there if I have a problem. And the Thai smile always lifts my heart, The food, the climate. I could go on and on.

1. It's not cold

2. My health seems better (like, no cough for months after I get a cold, no seborrheic dermatitis, no dry cracking skin in winter)

3. Excellent fresh fruit (rather than stuff that is shipped and bought unripe.  Though I admit there are some non-native fruits I miss)

4. It's not cold

5. Street vendors

6. Thai food!

7.  The animals I see here (admittedly: I'm in the city so don't see much of snakes or horrid centipedes)

8. I don't have a car, so I don't have to drive, so no road rage (mine) to deal with

9. It's not cold

10. I can go to other countries for the same as or less than the price of just going a couple states away in the U.S.

11. Many things are cheaper (other things aren't, but many are)

12. Lovely architecture and cultural things to see and learn

13. Not as many unruly children everywhere

14. As someone else said... I'm tall here!  LOL

15. People go about their business without fuss, unlike the "excuse me sorry excuse me hello" when walking through crowded public in the U.S.

16. It's not cold...

All the above plus peace and salt of the earth folks who can take it on the chin when life goes bad and bounce right back. Oh ... and being left alone . . .

It is all about the people for me... I love the humor, the light heartedness, the smiles, the depth of warmth and emotion that I experience on a regular basis...

And yes, I love the culture and language, the unique outlook on life, the non-confrontational way of living... and many of the things mentioned above.

1.  Weather (I really can't tolerate the cold... even the cold season here I have to wear a coat and scarf when Thais don't)

2.  The food... all of it... even the insects and raw buffalo!

3.  Thai people and their politeness..... in the UK there were lots of gangs and violent disturbed teenagers aimlessly roaming about in most public places... never felt safe in the city at night.... feel safer here.

4.  Nature and scenery... mountains and jungle, exotic birds and other animals I have never seen before.

5.  Cost.... still cheaper here than UK, despite the Pound continuing to slide.

6.  The great beaches in the south of the country... go there at least 2 times a year for a holiday.

My friends, the mosquitoes love me and make a meal of it.

The high humidity.

No contact with other foreigners cos le live in  the middle of nowhere.

The fun of learning to read and write Thai.

The fun of learning to understand Thai language.

The joy of seeing my Thai wife reconnect with her family and friends. (the real reason I visit Thailand)

A bit like banging my head on the wall - lovely when it stops and we return to the south of Spain.....

Surely that

makes you a visitor to Thailand rather than a resident.

A different perspective no doubt.

And eye candies with high possibility to turn to real candies.?

I like that I really do. ?

I'm short about money, but never get short about girls.

Amazing Thailand❗️???❤️

My wife and i moved from Bangkok to an ex Soviet country. The one thing we miss about Thailand is the spontaneous smile, the Russians must have flogged it out of this lot. I was told, not sure if it is true that when people acted friendly it was usually because they were trying to get information as informers, so the locals grew up not trusting strangers who tried to be friendly and they havent gotten over it yet. We miss the food and weather too.

Like so many others, I like the year 'round hot weather.

The variety of cheap food.

The night markets.

Yes, the eye candy.

Easy access to a plethora of ocean vacation destinations.

The lower stress level.

Cheap travel and accommodation.

The extra distance my Canadian dollar goes.

The quality of service that I most often receive. Better than my homeland.

All in all, Thailand is great for me.

Indeed, I had a mate who said every guy he met was here for the women in one way or another, and all the rest was BS.
