webfact Posted September 13, 2017 Posted September 13, 2017 Abandoned parcel causes bomb scare at post office By The Nation An unidentified woman caused a bomb scare at a post office in Samut Songkram province after she abandoned a parcel in the office on Tuesday evening. Bomb disposal police were called in to check the parcel at the post office on Samut Songkram-Amphawa Road in Samut Songkram’s Muang district at 8pm. The parcel, however, was found to contain only candles, joss sticks and tiny paper birds. Chao Rungruang, a postman, told police that a woman came to the office at 2pm to buy a parcel box. After packing the box, she left it on the table without handing it over to officials at the counter for dispatch. The parcel did not carry the name and address of the sender and had the recipient’s address but no name. Chao said he waited until the post office was about to close, carried the parcel to the car park, and informed police. Police placed tyres around the box and spent almost an hour checking its contents. Police suspect that the woman might have intended to send the parcel to possibly apologise to her family or boyfriend but changed her mind.
