Fire damages four houses in Surin

By The Nation

SURIN: -- A fire burned down a rented house and damaged three adjacent houses in Surin province’s Muang district late Thursday night, police said.

No casualties were reported in the blaze that happened at 11.30pm at the Surinthorn Phakdee community behind Surin City Hall on Krungsri Nok Road, Tambon Nai Muang.

Firefighters took about an hour to control the blaze at the rented house whose tenant disappeared.

The owner of one of the adjacent houses that was damaged said the fire started from a two-storey wooden house owned by a woman known only as grandma Cheep.

The house owner said the tenant of the rented house, who has yet to be identified, appeared drunk when he got into a quarrel with a resident from the opposite house.

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.
