Downtown Chaiyaphum flooded, six schools closed

By The Nation

Six schools in Chaiyaphum’s Muang district have been closed after floodwaters rose on Monday morning.

The flooding of downtown Chaiyaphum occurred over the weekend and worsened after more river water hit the area.

Chaiyaphum Phakdee Chumpol, Sattee Chaiyaphum, Pairoh, Siunthorn Watana, Thessaban 3 and Thessaban 4 schools were closed on Monday morning.

The floodwater rose to over a metre in parts of downtown Chaiyaphum, affecting some 300 houses.

Chaiyaphum governor Chusak Trisan led officials to inspect the flooded areas and hand out dried food and other necessities to affected people.

The main road to Chaiyaphum Hospital was under 50 centimetres of water, making it impassable by car.

Officials arranged a truck shuttle service from City Hall to the hospital.

The governor said the floodwater might be drained in a few days.

Too bad Thailand hasn't taken delivery on those submarines yet........... They could have used them there in Chaiyaphum to do rescue work...........

I'll bet if you were to ask the locals what they thought about 'submarines' they would answer --- We would rather have some government help to prevent this frequent flooding than submarines..........

Thailand has become pitiful.......... I love the people and have pity, especially in Issan.......

Edited to add.... No pity for the government however....... Only hatred....
