Been stopped on the street near jungceylon for timeshare but doubt this is lol. Maybe can book cheap hotel here too

Everyone who ever uses them knows that Expedia is purely an internet based entity.   Putting reputable company signs on property frontage is only a marketing ploy, using the reputation of another service provider to enhance the appeal of a 'lone ranger'.   Avoid.

"Expedia Local Expert" (as noted on the sign) is actually a very small operation that's part of the online booking company known as Expedia. Expedia Local Expert locations usually take the form of a tour or concierge desk in a hotel. Expedia rents that space from the hotel, and staffs it with an Expedia employee.

Now, whether or not this is a genuine Expedia location remains to be seen. I sort of doubt it since they also list several of Expedia's direct competitors on the storefront signage.

As another poster noted, copying names and logos of successful businesses is not uncommon in Thailand. Just look at the new restaurant that opened in Patong that's trading on the good name (and logo with a tiny variation) of a famous Las Vegas establishment.

This is genuine. I work in a hotel and we have advised by Expedia lodging that Expedia Local Expert has partnered with Tour East Thailand to be their official partner for Tours and transfers. They sent out a release this week.  They will open a shop in Patong on 30 September.

The logos you see in the picture hotels.com, air asia go, wotif.com are all part of the Expedia group. Expedia own these brands. You can also see the bottom logo in partnsership with tour east.

So we have been told that tour east is their official partner and also they will also team up with local businesses to open up desks and kiosks.

We have contacted Tour East already (who are the local partners here for Expedia) to see if we can have a stand in our hotel as the client base is huge

For once this is the real deal!

See my response below. It’s actually real. We were advised this week by Expedia officially.

Good information - thanks!

I was referring to Travelocity and Orbitz as being competitors, but after doing a little research, I see they're both owned by Expedia as well!
