Buying new car - check what year the car is manufactured before delivery.

300k trade in if looking at 400k sales is not that bad. They could have been willing to go a bit higher, 25k probably, maximum 50k. The extra you spent on the car has (nearly) no value on resale.

the 300k was only if they bought a new (toyota) vehicle.

I bought mine, Nov 2016. Had newly arrived in showroom that day. I was waiting on a particular colour.

Received book a month later and model year was 2015.

I wouldn't call that deceit more like FRAUD.

Model year or build year?

Yes, that's why it is called trade in.

So?

Does it matter if the car was manufactured a few months before you buy it? it's still a new car. You are never going to get one straight off the production line.

so did you pay the 2016 PRICE or the 2015 PRICE ? only one guess.

if you were to sell it I would GUESS that the dealer would give you the value of a 2015 CAR.

This is the main reason I first started this topic.

Since I found this out I make sure the sales contract specifies the model year.

The VIN number and tyre "week/year" is of good help to get indication if the dealer intend to deliver a car older than what according to my opinion I bought. This can be checked before payment/taking delivery of the car. Just to avoid a negative surprise when the blue book arrives after a month or more.

I wouldn't pay a lot of heed to the blue book date of manufacture. I have a car that is, by the blue book, manufactured after production ceased. Only out by 8 years, so near enough I guess

A 2015 model does not mean the year of manufacture was 2015. Could be 2014-2016 in this case.

Date registered states Nov 2016. Model year states 2015.

I take that to mean the new model came out 2015 and all subsequent sales from that date to present day, will state 2015 model year until they bring out a newer model?

The 2016 price remained unchanged from the previous year.

It could even be they started selling the 2015 model in 2014. Until they come out with a new model it will be the 2015 model.
