The UK government are now backing the use of e cigs as a safer way to smoke and an avenue to quit smoking . The support promotion is now being advertised on UK tv .

What chance of Thailand following the western world in light of this latest information . At the very least the ridiculously harsh penalties for personal use should be reviewed . If there was any true care for the health of Thailand's smokers the e cig would be encouraged , or  am  being too naive ?

It is a shame that the problem in Thailand has nothing to do with health in the banning of the e-cig but everything to do with not coming up with a means to tax the said product................

That said, Thailand is only being a bit more forward than most countries.

Smoking has been known to be a killer for decades, and yet tobacco products are legally available over the counter of every country in the world (with a couple of exceptions) Why is this? Certainly isn't for health reasons.

For clarity, I am a smoker. And also the owner of e-cigs...................

Is it possible to acquire the e- liquid in the LOS that is a reliable product and not have any nasties within ? that is one of my concerns as the liquids do not seem to be regulated . I have seen videos of the liquid being produced in the back streets of China by impoverished folk working in unhygienic surroundings and the product shipped around the world .

Now I read that a new alternative has hit the market by the name of  IQOS . Suppose to be safer than vaping and produced by Phillip Morris and also endorsed by the Thai government from a statement issued under the new taxes on cigs & booze

I agree fully about concern for the quality of the consumables. The liquid does need control.

I have nothing against smokers...i am an ex-smoker myself but i promise you the e-cig is better...way better. I used it for a year before officially quitting. The most vivid change has been that my taste buds are way better and hence gaining weight has become a real problem. I don't know. I somehow always managed to stay trim under the Cig. Are there any scientific facts behind this phenomenon? Sometimes i get so tempted to just have one..or two..or three :passifier:

Smoking is an appetite suppressant. It's very common for people to put on weight when they quit smoking. This is one of the reasons that type 2 diabetes is also common in ex-smokers.

hi guys

i make my own e-liquids with highest quality ingredients because i don't trust any liquid in thailand. i plan on a trip to stay in thailand for more than 6 months, so i do plan to bring 1-2lt premade homemade liquid to consume by myself when i stay there. what do you think about putting it in my luggage and bring via plane? any big problem?

Thanks.

Interesting , so what would you say if searched by the customs ?  I am guessing that it is contained within a non e liquid bottle / container . Is it possible to make the liquid in   Thailand ?  The penalties for bringing e cigs into Thailand are severe as I am sure you know but on the bright side it would be a sure way of quitting smoking when slammed up in the Bangkok Hilton . Are you going to share your recipe with us ?

I would be concerned what the explosives detectors at your embarkation airport will make of it.

What's the main liquid ingredient? Is it practical to bring as a concentrate and dilute down once here?

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

last year when i come to thailand i brought 2 sets of e cigarette and 300ml e-liquid. luckily nobody asked what they are, and i smoked outside airport near police , cafe's everywhere . I didn't know it was illegal.

now i am very concerned:)

i plan on bringing nicotine base (which includes vegetable glyserin, nicotin and food grade aroma) . Selling e-cigarette and e-liquid also illegal in Turkey (third world country as thailand) but it is no problem carrying in planes and smoke in public places.

I thought it is same same in thailand you can't buy or sell but if you have one no problem with vaping and i am no thai citizen.

I guess i am wrong? if i bring it in my bag and customs question me i am in big trouble? that is a big problem now because i smoke real cigarettes 20 years i am free almost 3 years and my health is perfect thanks to e-cigs.

what do you guys suggest?

I know of 2 e smokers who did not take a chance of bringing their vapes to Thailand but instead used roll ups/ Golden Virginia / and Marlborough . The dilemma is there is no consistency from the enforcement side of things by the Thai police . Vaping can be seen openly by falangs  without fear and then there are the stories of guys arrested for vaping who are in custody and will have to pay a very heavy fine to get released .  Having said that the vaping gear is on sale in certain areas of Thailand  ( others may be able to elaborate ) One alternative is a new concept under the trade name of  IQOS ( apparently stands for I quit ordinary smoking ) . It is allowed in Thailand and does not used any liquids .  Google to get the full info . Risks are similar to vaping  and a user tells me tastes better than vaping , more like real cigs .

'Heat-not-burn' technology like IQOS are supposed to be very good (I've not tried them myself as I don't think they're available here in Greece as yet), and the governments like them because they actually contain tobacco (albeit in smaller quantities than normal cigarettes), which gets round the pesky problem of being able to tax the sh*t out of them, something which they haven't yet worked out how to do with e-liquids. They don't come cheap though. An article I read from the UK had them priced slightly higher than conventional cigarettes, which isn't much incentive for people to switch. Particularly if those people are in the habit (as many are) of buying their smokes on the black market for half the retail price.

The Thai approach to e-cigs is stupid, but they are taking their cues from the WHO and its totalitarian FCTC treaty. And the FCTC is funded largely by the big pharmaceutical companies, for whom e-cigs are a direct threat to their sales of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT - patches and gums), which they've built up to a multi-billion dollar global business on the back of the smoking bans they've lobbied (and paid for) the WHO to mandate via the FCTC. It's all very incestuous.

I'm a heavy vaper and have spent much of the past two and a bit years in Thailand. I have never had a problem, but over the past year or so (since I became aware of the laws) I refrain somewhat from vaping in public. I vape if I'm in a bar, but I would not walk down the street openly vaping... especially if there are police around. I vape a lot in the car, but it has tinted windows. I am not worried about getting caught because I am discreet. The only time I have concerns is when going through airport security - even though I've never had an issue.

I do not know where to purchase juice in Thailand, but I wouldn't anyway. It's probably made in China and god knows what's in it. I only buy top quality juice when I'm in the UK. The issue is getting it here and making it last. I usually go back to the UK every 4 months, so I stock up and bring enough to last. The time before last I brought 500ml of juice to last me 4 months, with 350ml of it in a shampoo bottle. I nearly ran out.

I arrived in Thailand last month and will be here until April. I'm only going back to the UK once between then and now, so last month I came with over 900ml of juice and I'll bring a similar amount back next time. I did not have time to conceal it in shampoo bottles, so I had a number of 120ml vape juice bottles. These all went in my checked in baggage, but no more than two or three in the same part of my bag. I put them in with different toiletries, etc. I also had a spare vape kit in my checked in baggage, plus spare coils, etc. My regular vape kit goes in the carry-on, along with the batteries (never put these in the checked in bag!), plus a collection of 10ml vape juice bottles.

I am not massively worried about getting caught, but my heart did skip a beat coming through customs last month as my bag was nearly scanned. I would plead ignorance if caught, which is what I did when entering Singapore last year. They noticed my vape gear in my carry-on bag and I was told "This is illegal in Singapore. The fine for vaping anywhere in Singapore is xxx" and I said "Really? (I knew it was illegal) I didn't know that. Okay in that case I will not vape while I'm here" and he let me keep it and of course I did vape, but never in public.  I was only there for a couple of days so didn't need much juice. FWIW, I've never had a problem at any airport in Thailand and they have clearly see my vape gear in my carry-on baggage many, many times.

I do not like to be made to feel like a smuggler, even though I suppose I am. I consider it a ridiculous law and I don't feel guilty in the slightest. I enjoy vaping and will not go back to smoking cigarettes, even if they are cheap as chips over here.

Sure. I get my juice from pure-perfection.co.uk. I used to get 100ml bottles, but the new EU legislation (since May this year) only allows nicotine juice in 10ml bottles. They got around this with their new 'Shake & Vape' range. They send a 120ml bottle, with 80ml of juice. They then send 4 x 10ml nicotine shots, which you empty into the bottle and shake. This is for a 6mg mix, but they do different mixes if you want more/less nicotine. I started on 12mg but am down to 6mg. My 'go to vape' is menthol, even though I hated menthol cigarettes. The good thing with menthol is you can easily add a few drops of other flavours if you get bored with it.

I've ordered from these guys many times over the past 3 years or more. I usually order online but have also gone to their shop in Reading once or twice. On average it costs about £20 for a 120ml bottle (when taking advantage of their special discounts), which is very competitive. The local vape shop charges £4 for a 10ml bottle.

I've had a Kanger Subox Mini Mod for the past 18 months or so, which I use with  an Aspire Nautilus X tank (as the Kanger tank was super leaky). I also have a Nautilus Aspire v2 tank, plus another tank (the name escapes me). I also bought a £50 mod from the local shop, but that just a backup and is still in its box. I think I also have a pen style mod in a drawer here somewhere as a last resort.

Absolutely. No more wheezing, no more coughing, no more shortness of breath. I was a 20-a-day smoker and within a week of buying my first vaping kit I stopped completely. In the past I used gum and patches to try and stop, but they never worked for me. Obviously it would be better to neither smoke or vape, but since switching I have definitely noticed health improvements. I know many other people who have become ex-smokers thanks to vaping.

shampoo bottle:) good idea. original shampoo also made from glyserin so i think it is no diffrent than e-liquid.

beside that anyone smoking real cigarettes, i completely agree with timbob. Just quit smoking and start e-cigarette for your health. Life quality changes dramaticly, no more bad smell from your breath, no more coughing no more heart burn,. You can start tasting amazing thai food much richer, breath much more better in a hot enviroment like asia, blood pressure go down.

After i quit smoking real cigarettes which i smoke for 20 years(2 packs a day) my blood levels and general health is better than ever like my youth days.

And for those who live in europe or usa it is legal to buy highest quality liquids legally , so buy your liquid and don't trust street sellers in thailand. If you buy an e-liquid from street which includes high diacetyl it is also very bad for your kidneys. your e-liquid must be made of ingredients purely for vaping.

I buy my nicotine base from usa and aroma from germany. Mix it and vape.

yes it is a little complicated for someone who live in a country who bans e-cigs like Thailand-Turkey but for my health i think it is worth it . So anyone from europe i really don't understand why you still smoke real cigarettes.
