3BB & Satelite Dish in Muang

Featured Replies

Hi Everybody,

So I have decided that 3BB is the company I want for fibre (I have checked and my moo baan have it) but can anyone share their experience on these points below?

- Installation time frames from the time I sign on the package?

- I live in a 2 storey, what's the best solution to extend coverage throughout the house?I don't think mesh technology will be available here yet

- Riding on the above point, I been told that installing a satelite dish (like my neighbours do) extends the wifi coverage in the house - is this true? I always assumed the satelite dish is for cable tv (of which I have no interest in)

- Any ballpark estimates for what the satellite dish will cost should it helps to extend wifi coverage

Thank you all in advance!

WellI can honestly say that Ive never heard of a satellite dish extending wifi coverage. Personally I think 3BB fibre offers some good deals...albeit my past experiences havent been too good lately.

However for you Id go the fibre route and just install some wifi extenders within your home.  You can get simple plug in ones on Lazada or you can shop around many of the computer type places in Chiang mai to find what you need.

When my connection speed dropped so low that I couldnt get any streaming the idiot 3BB technician (And I use the term technician very loosely) said the problem is that we need additional access points.  What an idiot,  that will never increase the line speed coming into a property.  On the next visit from one of their technicians he actually checked the fibre cable and found it had in fact broke.

He then added that our 'modem' is too old and we should get a new one but alas 3BB in Mae Rim dont have any 'spare' at the moment and we should check the office in a few days.  No charge was asked for or given.. The replacement modem is also free as it part of the deal.

I do however get a bit annoyed when you pay for 200/100 at 1200 baht a month and only recieve 30/50.  Funnily enough 3BB havent heard of the word 'discount' or 'refund'.

Most of my friends however have had far better service from 3BB and all say its far better than other companies they have used in the past.

Good luck!
