Chain saws

Featured Replies

Is it legal to own a chain saw in Thailand?

Yes. It wasn't when i first arrived but it is now.

Not illegal to own, but it depends on how big the saw is and what you do with it.  Home garden use is normally ok, but depends on what you are doing and  interpretation by local authorities. Logging is illegal. Foreigners working without a work permit is illegal.

Chain saws with 12 inch bars are sold over the counter. Larger saws require registration.  Registration is to regulate illegal logging.

See TV Farming in Thailand forum for recent discussion.

Regarding VocalNeal post, Changes to regulations may have occurred that l am not aware of.
