Not illegal to own, but it depends on how big the saw is and what you do with it.  Home garden use is normally ok, but depends on what you are doing and  interpretation by local authorities. Logging is illegal. Foreigners working without a work permit is illegal.

 

Chain saws with 12 inch bars are sold over the counter. Larger saws require registration.  Registration is to regulate illegal logging.

Farangs who aren't in the work category just bring their own in. I was talking with one waay back and that's how he got his in.
