Tourists are visiting the popular tourist destination Huay Nam Dang National Park in increasing numbers as winter arrives with the mercury dropping to 16 degrees Celsius in the morning as a sea of mist covers the mountaintops.

Bancha Ramsiri, chief of the Huay Nam Dang park, said many tourists had visited the park on Monday morning to enjoy the cool breeze and mist at sunrise at the Kiewlom mountaintop viewpoint.

Bancha said the park was prepared to welcome tourists with 10,000 marigold flowers planted in honour of His Majesty the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej.

He said the facilities were ready to cater to 1,000 tourists a day, adding that the grounds had been prepared for tourists to erect tents to stay overnight while three guest houses, which can accommodate six people each, had been booked through December.

Bancha said tourists who visited the park could also visit the nearby Auang Ngern Palace in Tambon Kudchang in Chiang Mai’s Mae Taeng district, the hot springs in Tambon Papae in Mae Taeng and the Tha Pai hot springs in Mae Hong Son’s Pai district.
