PHUKET: A 39-year-old British man was found hanged in a luxury property in Kathu yesterday in what police are describing as suicide.

Capt Nipon Temsang of the Kathu Police was notified of the death at 5:30pm yesterday (Oct 14).

Capt Nipon along Phuket Forensic Police, local officers and Kusoldharm rescue workers arrived at a house in Moo 7 in Kathu to find the body of 39-year-old Robin Daniel Abbot from Southampton hanging from a rope tied to a beam in a store room under a flight of stairs.

Let me guess. Bar girl encounter.

Yep, I know! Surly is or just a messed up relationship with Thailand and the ones close.
I know you´re going to get heat for that comment, but I agree with you with the small modification above.

I also find it very hard to see suicide as a way out. For me it´s just a cowardly way of a person not having the spine to deal with the problem.
Therefore, I will excuse myself. I can´t wish that someone is at peace. Ain´t possible, due to that the problem still exists. Not for him, but not dealt with.
I also find it very hard for somebody to rest in peace, when they likely died with unfinished business.

It can sound hard, I know. It´s just my view of life.

Police are very quick, in most cases to come up with the verdict of

suicide, there were 4 letters found but they don't say if they were

suicide letters, RIP fellow countryman, your at peace now.

regards Worgeordie

Its a developing country and a long forensics case costs a lot of money!

And seriously all these allegations about 35 kilo pip sqeeks lifting a 120 k westerner over a balcony are idiotic, the same girl pulling on a rope is beyond idiotic.

Before any law establishment releases a statement stating suicide over here they should be doing more research, or does that mean they have to put in a shift

in a case like this the first thing the police should do is look for a motive for suicide or if that draws a blank then look for a possible motive for murder...............but then

"Its a developing country" - no, Thailand is not developing.  It's been stagnant, particularly under military rule.

"a long forensics case costs a lot of money" - what price the cost of justice????  I think if it was you to take a sudden and unexplained jump of a balcony, especially after a large purchase in Thailand, your family would expect a proper investigation.

A "35 kilo pip sqeek" doesn't have to lift a "120 k westerner over a balcony" or "pull on a rope around his neck."  Relieving him of his live savings is as good as assisting him to do both, by himself.

That said, at 39 years of age, this guy had many more years to address his personal or financial issues.

Such unexplained behavior is not uncommon after the foreigner "sells up" in his home country, burns all bridges with family, friends, and employer/s, then buys a business and/or property, usually in her name, then, she leaves him, once there is no more easy and free flow of money.

So, who is to blame in such cases????

Obviously, the guy is in control of his own destiny, but the bar girls are excellent con women, and vulnerable men are an easy target for them.

Why would you talk about the military on a suicide thread.. Not the place for political agendas!! . What a bizarre post.

If you think 3 rd world and devolping countries infested with sex pats who fall in love with whores and a bottle of whiskey a day are going to investigate every "Pattaya flyer" then you obviously don't get it

AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN and rightfully so. Maybe in 50 years time

You're the one who said, "It's a developing country."

So, please tell me what great "developing" has been happening in Thailand, particularly in the last 3 years????  :cheesy:

As far as a proper investigation into "a sex pat who falls in love with a whore and a bottle of whiskey a day" who are you to either know, or judge, any other expat here????

Murder is murder.  Don't make excuses for Thailand because it's "3rd World" or "developing" because when there is a murder that effects their tourism industry, they have no problems paying the baht to solve the case, and in some cases, even incarcerate scapegoats, when the real murderers can not be found.

I think it's you that doesn't "get it."  There's "3rd World" and then there is taking the p*ss, and in my opinion, when just about every foreigner death is declared a suicide, because there is no sign of a fight in the room, that is taking the p*ss.

An investigation goes beyond there are no turned over chairs in the house.

Once again, YOU'RE the one that said Thailand is a "developing country."  How is questioning that rate of development, particularly under military rule, pressing a political agenda?

A country's judicial system is one of their key indicators of "development."

Although the death appears to be a suicide, police said they are continuing their investigation.

Perhaps all the conspiracy theorists could explain the 4 letters left by the deceased?  A strange thing for a murderer to do.

RIP Way too young to be taking a permanent solution to a temporary problem.

Of all the suicide cases i have read on TV over the years i have never heard of and never seen quoted The Samaritans of Thailand until today.

If you or anyone you know is in need of mental health services, please contact the Samaritans of Thailand at their 24-hour hotline 02-713-6791 (English), 02713-6793 (Thai) or Thai Mental Health Hotline at 1323 (Thai).

Maybe TV could promote an Ad for these heartful volunteers. If it only saves 1 life in the future, thats an Ad well done :clap2:

I am amazed by the lack of knowledge and understanding about depression and what can drive someone to take their own life.

Far from being a cowardly act, it is often a brave thing to do when faced by problems that appear insurmountable to that person, even if not to others.

Have a little sympathy please for someone who had reached the end of his tether in sad circumstances and had to end it all.

You spoke for yourself. Suicide is a courageous way out . It solves all your problems .

And the one that say 39 is too young , BS , teens take their own life too.
