Smith 'arrives' at Murray Park

By Alex Livie - Created on 10 Jan 2007

Walter Smith has pitched up at Rangers' Murray Park training facility, according to Sky Sports News, fuelling speculation that he is set to take the reins of the Glasgow giants.

Smith is eager to return to Ibrox following the departure of Paul Le Guen, but the Scottish FA are equally keen for him to honour his contract with the national side.

The interested parties have been locked in discussions for a couple of days and Smith arrived at SFA headquarters on Wednesday morning for a crunch meeting with chief executive David Taylor.

Smith left the meeting after a little over an hour, but refused to make any comment to the media upon his departure.

The fire was fuelled, though, as Sky Sports News stated Smith headed across Glasgow for Rangers' Murray Park training ground.

No official comment has yet been made, but skysports.com will keep you up to date with all the developments from Glasgow.

Personally, i think the Scottish FA have shot themselves in the foot by not even wanting to consider Walter doing a dual roll for Rangers and the national team. But as an English man, i don't really care how bad Scotland go :o:D

I am very disappointed with Smith for leaving his post. For the first time in years Scotland looked like we were building something decent. Then Smith is out as soon as Rangers come knocking. :o

I hope that Smith gets fined heavily for breach of contract and wish him as much success as his predecessor Paul la Guen. :D

The story is that, The SFA hadn't offered Smith a new contract and, were just riding on the fact that Smith wouldn't leave the national post to go back to Rangers.

How dumb, they will still sue both Smith and Gers I presume.

How dumb,

Yep

they will still sue both Smith and Gers I presume.

And with their attitude they'll be lucky to get another decent manager. The SFA are just stupid fukcs and all the good work he's done will be wiped out

Dead on mate, we don't need reminding of the quality players that once came from north of the border.

Now, the best they have is Darren bleedin Felcher :o ....., and to think, there was once a point in having a British side....!

Too right mate.

We'd be here all night naming them.

there was once a point in having a British side....!

That was never ever going to happen and never will.
