cmsally Posted October 24, 2017 Posted October 24, 2017 More flash floods this morning in Sanpatong area. CM108 Article from Nam BorLuang , Sanpatong, but I think more areas affected. I got a phone call this morning from a friend saying their house was flooded but they are not in that particular area, they are south so I guess it got to them afterwards.
elektrified Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I heard from a friend in San Patong that her area has been flooded pretty much non-stop except for a day or two here and there when the rains stop for like 3-4 weeks now. I've seen the photos and it's all mud everywhere and moving water. Fortunately she built her place up on at least one meter.
Crossy Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Despite the fact that we are likely to flood over the next few days with the run off from up-north I really feel for these people. Rapid rise of moving water is very difficult to mitigate or even react to. Being by the Chao Praya our flooding is more of the "slow motion train wreck" variety it takes a lot of water to raise the level by even 10cm and the water tends not to be moving much once you get outside the immediate river bank area. Unfortunately it tends to go down equally slowly. Be safe up there. "I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"
chingmai331 Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 I went by the Ping river this morning while on the bike. What a massive brown fast flowing monster it is today.
khunphil Posted October 25, 2017 Posted October 25, 2017 Ping river is up 1 meter in 24 hours, was going up before the "last rain" arrive ... It could be some discharge from the dam ... but I have no proof. It looks stable now at 2.70m http://hydro-1.net/08HYDRO/HD-04/houly/water_today.php It was as 1.65m less than 36h ago. Fortunately, weather forecast tends to show this is the last rain, in the North
