Did people stop wearing black today?

Featured Replies

I'm wondering if people in Bangkok stopped wearing black today.

Specifically the middle class people that you see every morning in the Skytrain: was that a sea of color this morning?

Note: yes I know that people in the outskirts or construction workers etc have always worn whatever.  I'm asking specifically if there is a change in Bangkok business districts.  It was interesting to see that in my Chiang Mai office there's no change whatsoever and it's all still black or very muted colors.

Not a "sea of colour" for sure, but not as black as in the last 2 weeks (BTS Phra Khanong to Siam).  Good to see things slowly getting back to normal.

According to Richard Barrows  Quote " Sunday is the last day for wearing black clothes. Monday wear muted colours. Tuesday wear clothes with any colours" unquote.

Lots of yellow in PKK today, noticeably more colorful all around

I've started wearing my pink undies again instead of my black undies, if that's anything to go by.

Grey polo and cream chinos were laid out by Wifey this morning, I'll see how she reacts to my fluorescent green shirt tomorrow (after all, she bought it for me).

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

And Thaivisa also does not "wear black" anymore.

Also seems that the other Thai online sources have gone back to normal image colors.

I haven't seen television today but should also be back in full color incl. the logos.

It's the official announced end of the mourning period.

The black/white cloth/ribbons on buildings will be removed, portraits of King Bhumibol that were specially set up for mourning will be removed. Normal portraits will of course remain.

First proof this morning was the ribbons removed at the village school. After more than a year and a long rainy season they were not a nice look anymore.

Kasikorn and SCB websites back in full color.

Just Bangkok Bank lags behind with the login screen.

Yes that is a good sign. Depression set in as soon as I started to hear that music.

And the "Grand Palace is closed" TukTuk scammers are also back to normal. :post-4641-1156693976:

The black clothes (with touches of orange)  did return for Halloween ?
