Sanook reported on a 68 year old woman from Nonthaburi to the north of Bangkok who has spent 100 million baht on stray dogs and cats.

Kawiporn Winitthapathom - who owns a big cement truck business - started looking after the strays near her property in the Muang district of Nonthaburi in 2003.

She would prepare food and medication each day and deliver it to thousand of strays. She says she has looked after 2,500 animals.

In 2011 the devastating floods that hit the capital meant that she stepped up her operation to take care of the strays.

She bought 30 rai of land in Saraburi some 90 kilometers away to the north and set up a home for stray dogs and cats as well as a base for her cement business and offices.

Her son is involved in looking after the animals. He said that his mother is a kind woman who has spent a total of about 100 million baht over the years to take care of the animals.

Donations can be made to the home for the animals by calling 089-099-6000.

Most people love animals, no doubt on that...

Stray dogs left to themselves on the streets are a social and sanitary hazard.

If the lady is contributing in her generosity in preventing the offspring, reproduce and proliferate in the soi's, she is a great help to society.

But this job should be tackled by the authorities in the first place...

A very kind lady however many poor people in Thailand struggle to survive .100,000 Million spent on feeding stray animals seems misguided unless perhaps there where many  bills for sterilizations . Somehow I think not.

Full credit to the Lady, its a great story and she deserves praise for looking after the animals. Kawiporn Winitthapathom you are a star well done.

Nonesense!

Use that money for the needy. Stop wasting money on stray animals.

dumbo

No need to donate money, she obviously has enough if she has already spent 100 million.

Some people spend their money on real estate hand bags and jewelry, this lady wants to spend

her money on dogs and cats. Up to her.

Without putting ANY restrictions on her choice, and, work, I admire her. How she spends her money should be of no concern to the socialists. The poor have some control over their lives, animals do not.

That's the best tax evasion story I have heard in a few years.

People are so gullible. ?

Fairly typical 'crazy bag-lady turns out to be a multi-millionaire' story.  Seeing as the general aim is to concrete over most of Thailand in the next couple of decades, cement is a very good business to be in.
