Six arrested in Khon Kaen, 198,000 meth pills seized

By The Nation

Police busted an alleged drug trafficking network in Khon Kaen’s Muang district at 10pm on Wednesday, arresting six suspects and seizing 198,000 methamphetamine pills.

The suspects were identified as Wiroj Thongnoon, Sirinya Kulaya, Kornkanok Moopaeng, Mayuhae, whose surname was unknown, Subri Sriwongsa and Nutpool Faiphaom.

Their arrests were announced at a press conference at the Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB) on Thursday afternoon.

Pol General Chalermkiart Sriworakhan said NSB officers had been monitoring the suspects since August 26 when officers seized 5,989 meth pills when dealers were tricked into selling drugs to undercover police officers. However, the suspects subsequently escaped arrest.

Chalermkiart said the NSB had learned that the suspects planned to smuggle methamphetamine pills from Nakhon Phanom to a southern province through Sakhon Nakhon, Kalasin and Khon Kaen.

NSB officers later spotted a car parked on a roadside and arrested Sirinya and Kornkanok when they emerged from it. After finding the drugs inside the vehicle, the two suspects implicated the four other suspects, who were arrested shortly thereafter.
