PM SAYS PATRIOTIC POLITICIANS WILL WANT ANSWERS TO SIX QUESTIONS

DESPITE THE ban on politial activity, General Prayut Chan-o-cha has encouraged people to take part in the political process by answering the six questions he has posed concerning the election and future politics.

In his weekly televised monologue on Friday, the head of the junta said he had no political motivation and he had no intention to intensify the political conflict. He said he did not mean to be in conflict with any “good and patriotic politicians and political parties”.

He only wanted to create some understanding and help lay out some principles for the people, Prayut said.

“What does that mean, when you say you want people to have a voice and be able to make a change in politics? So, all good and patriotic politicians should agree [with the idea of having people answer the six questions],” the PM remarked.

Everyone should accept the flaws of the democratic regime that persisted in the past, he said. It had become increasingly violent, so everybody should help to turn it back to normality, he said.

Hence, Prayut said he encouraged people to take part and answer the six questions he had posed last week. People could feel free to express their thoughts and offer additional comments, he said, adding that he wanted everyone to help think and find solutions to political issues.

The six questions were in addition to the four questions that he posed in June - also about the election, politicians and politics. They came amid pressure from political parties calling for the junta to loosen its grip on political activities given that the relevant organic laws were ready and the election was approaching.

In his address, he also stressed that politicians should behave and provide good governance so as to give hope to the country and the people. He said that highly anticipated reform could be realised if political parties integrated their policies with the national strategy that was being written by the regime.

In a related development, a survey conducted by Super Poll released yesterday showed that a majority of people wanted new blood and faces in politics.

The poll, conducted among 1,123 people on Thursday and Friday, found that about three quarters, or 74.9 per cent, of respondents wanted new choices of political parties. The remaining 25.1 per cent said that this was not necessary.

Similarly, 81.9 per cent said they would like to see new politicians. More than half of those surveyed – 60.1 per cent – said the National Council for Peace and Order had a right to support a political party.

I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

"despite the ban on political activity...has encouraged people to take part in the political process.."

There is a tried and true method of having the people select their leadership; it is called an election.

Super Poll, also known as association of Thai researchers on community happiness :cheesy:.

They must be particularly hopeless to use  such a ridiculous way to pretend they get some popular support

So now we have Mr. Democracy himself trying to charm everyone by declaring that it is the people's choice how the country is run. What a joke. He must think people are stupid. It is Article 44 that runs the country.

Then we have the release of a SUPER poll where 1123 people were asked nebulous questions about this and that.

1123 people represents 0.00162% of the population and you can bet most of those were in and around the burbs of Bangkok.

Good job from Khun Prayuth Chan O Cha. The Junta are here and they are here to stay.....

And for the farang who want to whinge and complain......  simple...

If Thailand is not suited to your way of governing, then maybe you should seriously look at other places to relocate. Life is to short to be miserable just because your not happy with the leader of the country. :coffee1:

You appear deluded. The issue is not the negative or positive views of foreigners, being essentially irrelevant to the discussion in the country. The issue is what the people of Thailand see as their future.Prayuth and his backers have of course exerted themselves to stifle any kind of free debate.Even the promised election is saddled with a rigged constitution (which was not allowed to be discussed by the Thai people) and was drawn up by stooges.Nevertheless it appears that millions of Thais concur with the words of Oliver Cromwell to the Rump Parliament.

"You have sat too long here for any good you have been doing. Depart, I say, and let us have done with you. In the name of God, go!"

And to borrow your mindless fatuous advice to foreigners who resist brainwashing, if you don't like the result - you too may as well take off.

At first your "naïve sycophant" shtick was mildly amusing, but now getting a little stale. You need to come up with some new material...

Its a job and you (and others) are keeping that account open. So it will continue. Even some of the replies to this account might be CB, forming a pretend back and forth. CBing has been common  here for the last few years, its a game for me as I've spotted and called out many..

As mentioned in the first reply.

Free and fair elections with no guaranteed seats for the military but unfortunately that is already taken care of. Free & fair is not on the table.

Well, the usual way for people to have a say in things is to let them nominate, and elect the government and representatives they want to represent them.

Oh this old Monty Python scene from the Holy Grail.  at 1:35

not troll Eric,  I just prefer the current stable government in charge than the previous unrest and instability with protests and roadblocks.  Then they did a runner with the Thais money .....

common sense tells me who I support.

2. A genuine and sustained assault on Corruption

3. as in point "1" above, stopping the carnage on the roads with proper law enforcement

4. A sustained anti littering campaign across the whole country instead of the "cigarette butt" stupid nonsense

Most Thai people I know are happy to be ignorant and apathetic, and have no faith in politicians or democracy.  So they are fine with Prayuth.  As long as there is somtum on the streets they have little care about anything else.  If it's mai sanook then it's not worth *thinking* about.

One gets a bit sick of the farang living in Thailand who continue to throw mud at this government.

I live here and have done for the past 35 years,  I accept this government for what it is and what it has achieved, I don't sit their everyday whinging and whining and complaining day in day out.

Thailand needs someone at the top to control the parties as has been proven time & time again, but you just cannot seem to grasp that.

Thailand is not perfect, but it is a great place and many falang do appreciate what it has to offer, unlike a couple of negative TV farang who just can't bear the Junta in charge.

There are many expats who understand that this is Thailand and this is how it works .... they accept it for how it is.

Please don't waste your life on here whinging about the Junta or Khun Prayuth .... move on and enjoy your life. :wai:

As some thai's will tell you ..........  Why should you care ! it's not your country  !

100% correct

100% wrong. This is no government but a junta military strongman lord over the citizens. There no stability as any signs of dissent are forcefully and illegally arrested and slap with ridiculous charges. Road blocks and shutdowns are all set up by the proxy of the establishment and the military. Finally the military has been robbing the people batantly since 1932 and no one can touch them. Others are not so fortunate and have to run or die in the jail. You support a illegitimate government who seized power from a government mandated by the people. Other countries call this treason and a crime. That’s your choice to support an illegimate government. I support democracy and a government chosen by the citizens.

When I first read the topic title very quickly I thought it read "Prayut wants people to have their say on country’s failure".  After reading a bit of it, I think my first reading was right.  The Thai economy is doing surprising well; but Thai society is in a dismal state, and on its present path this will only get worse. And there is no real solution -- the military continues in power or the Taksin clan returns. And the "Thai people", collectively and by economic segments (the poor, who vote mindlessly for Taksin, who throws bones to the rural poor while he robs the country blind; the business class who press only for better roads, ports and infrastructure and cheap labour and no government expenditure for education and social welfare; and the military who look for any opportunity/excuse to take control of the tattered government), are totally to blame for this situation. The Thai people have what they deserve (not necessarily what they "want") unless and until they start to look and act beyond their myopic short term self interest, and start to consider the long term best interest of the country.

This is a forum and everybody is entitled to express their views on any topic, subject to the rules applied by the moderators. There is certainly no need, even in an indirect way, for people to be told to pee off and go somewhere else if they are not happy about something.

Your last paragraph just reveals how self-righteous you are and intolerant of the views of others.

And if you think that the man in the picture is here to stay, then you forget the mortality of humans which would certainly let the fox into the hen house of the "Junta."
