Tourists enjoy sea of mist from Chiang Rai cliff

By The Nation

Hundreds of tourists camped overnight on Doi Pha Tung, a viewing point on top of a high cliff in Chiang Rai, and woke up to enjoy the sunrise over the sea of mist on Saturday morning when the temperature dropped to 12 degrees Celsius.

Chailarn Saejern, a coffee shop owner on the mountaintop in the Wieng Kaen district of Chiang Rai province, said hundreds of tourists stayed overnight in tents and in resorts near the viewpoint on Friday.

Many tourists who stayed in resorts on the hillside also climbed up to the cliff early in the morning.

Officials said the temperature on the mountaintop was about 12 degrees Celsius in the morning and about 17 to 19 degrees Celsius on the lowland.

I've been there a couple of times. Nice drive and I like the view more than Phu Chi Fa.

Sincerly hope that any Norwegians there were well wrapped up.

Can someone give a google map link to a good view spot?

Would have been nice to have a picture to go with the brief article don't you think?

pics in link to full article.

They should go to England and view the blocked out sunrise from under a sea of low grey cloud.

Awesome sight but the novelty wears off after a while.

I purposely  went back and checked the link to the Nation article and for me it only showed text no pictures.  A lot of advertising  with pictures  but no mist pictures. I am no trying to nit pic but I  don't  post  or comment unless I  have personally checked or experienced.
