Foreign Tourist Assaulted in Phuket Old Town, Prompting Safety Concerns
Picture captured from dash-cam. A foreign female tourist was assaulted in broad daylight in Phuket Old Town by a Thai man, in an incident that has sparked widespread concern over public safety in one of the island’s busiest tourist areas. The attack occurred while the woman was standing by the roadside in the heart of the Old Town. Eyewitnesses stated that the assailant approached her without warning, grabbed her by the hair, and began striking her repeatedly. The shocking incident unfolded in full view of passers-by, some of whom recorded the attack on their phones. Videos quickly went viral on social media platforms, prompting calls for greater police presence and protective measures for tourists. Fortunately, a local man and others, intervened and are now being praised as a Good Samaritans. The local man who intervened, identified as Mr Chindanai, 34, a Phuket resident and wearing a motorcycle helmet at the time, stepped in, physically pushing the attacker away and shielding the victim from further harm. The intervention caused the suspect to flee the scene on foot. Thanks to the swift response of bystanders and video evidence circulating online, the Phuket City Police were able to track down and arrest the suspect shortly after the incident. The alleged assailant was identified as Mr Prasong, a 40-year-old man from Chanthaburi province. He was taken into custody and is currently undergoing police interrogation. Although the female tourist, visibly shaken by the incident, chose not to file a formal complaint or press charges, local authorities confirmed that they would proceed with legal action regardless. “Public safety, especially in high-traffic tourist areas, is a top priority,” a spokesperson from Phuket City Police stated. “This kind of behaviour is unacceptable and will be dealt with through the full extent of the law.” City officials have said that they are reviewing current safety protocols and considering increased patrols in Phuket Old Town and other tourist hotspots to reassure visitors and prevent similar incidents in the future. -- 2025-04-05 -

Bidding farewell
It's you. I never had any of that sort of problem, but of course it's going to be more expensive than Nakon Nowhere. Up to you. -

Rubbish. If you want to stay in Pattaya you deserve to be bored. The best of Thailand is not found in any city, but your loss. You won't live any different in Oz, but it'll cost you more. -

Earthquake Rocks Bangkok: Building Collapses with 40 people inside
Yes it's very worrying all the buildings they've declared are perfectly safe from a quick check. There could be another earthqake at any time and these already weakened buildings might not fare so well. -

Musically - Is this as good as it gets?
Hendrix? Are you making a bad joke? There's about a zillion other bands better that that. Santana for a start. Ever hear of the Rolling Stones, Dire Straits, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchel, Judy Collins etc etc etc. Even Abba was more popular than Hendrix. I scorn your Hendrix.
