What is the real reason that Puritans Pride no longer ships to Thailand?

Does anyone know what is the real reason that Puritans Pride no longer ships to Thailand?  They tell me that Thai customs has imposed import restrictions on them.   If that is indeed the case, then why are all these other supplements suppliers, (as noted here in a parallel thread), not bound by these same restrictions?

Customs does not impose restrictions on shippers. They impose levies on incoming parcels, payable by the recipient, or in some cases refuse to allow the item in

 

What has likely happened is that many of their parcels either did not get through or incurred customs taxes that the recipients did nto want to pay, leading in both cases to returned merchandise, which was a hassle for them so they have stopped shipping to Thailand.

 

This invariably happens if a courier is used rather than regular mail. It is technically not legal to import any type of pharmaceutical, including supplements, without an FDA license. In practice, customs will usually allow small quantities in if sent by regular mail. Using a courier guarantees a request for license and other red tape and problems.

 

Some companies have figured this out, some have nto.

Well, while they're working on it, their Thai customer base is voting with their keyboards....

Not familiar with PP but I am very happy with iHerb. Just received another package this morning 2 weeks after ordering. I always limit the size to 2 or maybe 3 items less than about 40 - 50 USD as the post is very cheap. I have had 6 packages delivered now this year with no extra charges.
