New In Town and Wanting Information

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I am new in town and to this forum.  This may be posted in other places, but wonder if there is a list of Contact information in case of emergency, as well as city services phone numbers?  Is there a central list of hospitals, taxi cabs phone numbers, police number and relevant city phone contact numbers?  TIA

HaHaHa,

Just setting up a home and planning for a healthy retirement.

Are you sure Pattaya is a good choice for that ?

Thank you, this is exactly what we are looking for.  One thing I don not see is the number to call a taxi cab?  (Not motor bike)

Mr T is an established Taxi company in Soi Diana who I have used many times. Very reliable. 081-2587716/098-4983484

Your best bet is Uber or Grab.  Grab is more expensive, but seems to be a bit more reliable.

I use them all the time.  Have for years.  Never had a problem.

Same here. You can only speak from your own experience and personally I would never use anyone else.

I'd recommend Jomtien or Bang Saray for retirement. Pattaya is a sewer, figuratively AND literally. My suggestions are close enough to whatever action you're looking for but far away enough that you don't carry the stench around with you. PLENTY of beachfront condos available for everyone's budget and Jomtien is home to one of the best immigration offices in Thailand.

He's in the distance business - airports/Bangkok, etc.  Not interested in short hops around town.

If you don't want to go the Uber/Grab route, just get a card from the first stationary taxi you see.

Mr. T does short hops around town.  It's by the hour.  We're using them this weekend for out of town guests.

Hmmmm, I've used him for airport runs for years.  Called a few months back when I wanted to get me and a few bags across town to new accommodation, wasn't interested in that.

You are right.  His local services are by the hour.

It won't take long to find a local service . Just wander around and look for for the shops and signs etc or even on the power poles. The shopping centres all have touts happy to take you home with your shopping. For larger hosehold items like TVs or furniture most if not all will deliver for free or nominal fee and some will take you home to let them in. In som estates like on the darkside nearly every one has a baht bus driver and if you give them enough notive they will take you where you want to go.

Where is it then?

I'm a bit out the loop but head for walking street and work your way round them. If ones empty move onto the  next, you will soon see where the busy ones are.

You've obviously not spent much time here.  Pattaya is a very large area.  Many of us live outside the central business district...cheaply...and with few hassles.
