Xmas gift for accomodation staff suggestions.

Having got to know the staff over the past months I'd quite like to get them something just for appreciation of all they do.

They are female and Buddhist.

Other than just giving them money, does anyone have any suggestions. Nothing expensive as I'm not actual friends with them.

Thanks for any sensible suggestions- sort of things people get maids.

As it is colder then usual and maybe they do not all have winter woolens, why not for each female a nice wool shawl ?...it will warm the ladies up a bit !!

Yes, a woolen shawl is a nice gift, but with a gift of money perhaps if the OP is their boss.  The New Year is the time to give monetary bonuses here.  After living here for many years, we've finally gotten over feeling crass and tacky in giving gifts of money.  It's what the Thai people want and expect.  Nice, crisp, new banknotes in a pretty envelope with a card are the way to show you put some thought into it.

Nah. They turn up looking like they are going skiing. I have a chuckle about that as I'm still wearing just the t shirts I wear all year round.

Does seem slightly cooler this year though. So much for global warming!

Thanks for the suggestions, but the point of the thread is for gifts that are NOT money.

Is it possible to buy gift cards here?

Yep, so true. I should have learned my lesson years ago. I recently got my wife a nice gift at Central for her birthday; an expensive designer handbag that was on sale. She didn't even open it for one week after her birthday. She said that she only wanted money for her birthday and that she had no use for a gift from Central; of which she could have purchased herself if she wanted - which she didn't. I knew this but must have not been thinking. Lesson learned again...
