Komchadluek reported that police in Mahasarakham in Thailand's north east had finally arrested an underwear thief after a three month manhunt.

Pathomwong, 37, a local, was pictured in a crash helmet to protect his identity following his arrest Friday.

The manageress of a block of flats named only as "A" had reported in October that many female residents had said their bras and panties were going missing.

CCTV revealed that the culprit was a 30 - 40 year old man with a swarthy appearance.

Police took over and following a manhunt the suspect was finally apprehended at his house with the evidence.

He said that he had targeted the flats three times at night but didn't steal anything else of value.

He just wanted the underwear to sniff and for sexual gratification, he said.

Well that's really considerate of him for not stealing their valuables!

So they protect his privacy when he didn't care about anyone else's... got it.  (Kind of like how my former partner's bank once called him to say his credit card had been compromised and needed to be replaced, but when he asked at what retailer his information was stolen, they wouldn't tell him for confidentiality reasons...)

(Also, they won't show what he looks like but give his name, age, and where he lives... which "protects his identity" how??)

Some great under cover work ! but really he should have been hitting the dirty washing basket unless he liked the smell of washing detergent ! No doubt he will be hung out to dry just like the underwear !

I bet he wasn't happy wearing a crash hatIIIIIiiiiiiiiIII Wonder how he feels wearing a crash hat , very silly I expect as it is likely the first time he has ever put one on.

Must get a hit from the smell of washing detergent or that clean lemon freshness odour if stole after being washed??

(I presume women only hang out washed underwear for everyone to see and take if that is their compulsion )

This story appears every few months in the Thai press, just a new culprit and different location.

Reminds me of that South Park episode.

1. Steal underwear.

2.

3. Profit!
